Capital One - Credit Steps

Who has received additonal (credit step increases) besides the inital one after the 4th statement???

From the letter's I received-they state you have to be at your current CL for 6 months to request another increase. I was at the 7 month mark when I called and got $500 CLI. This is after the credit steps I received back in April.

You can receive additional CLIs, but they are not part of the credit steps program itself.

In my credit steps letter, they state that I will get an increase to $1000 at 3 months and to 1,500 at my 7th statement automatically. Sounds good to me. My card is at $500 now.

I'm going to take it you didn't get the same letter as some of us, the one with the stupid sticker's to remind you not to be late? That letter only stated ONE increase for me, nothing about a second one. Congrats though! Nice limit increases for you!!

Yeah haha I definitely didn't receive any stickers. I kinda wish I did though. Don't worry, my card still sucks ($39 AF) Should have just app'd for the one with no AF and the high interest since I don't carry a balance anyways.

I got the same letter and program. Just opened my account in September. My second bill just dropped. I am thinking I will try to call right before my third statement hits and see if I can get any additional CLI. For those with more cap 1 experience, the recco is to call before the 3rd statement hits, correct?

Correct. You may be able to squeeze an extra increase out of them. I was able to get 2 in before my credit steps hit. I called after my second statement and then about a week before credit steps and still got the increase.

my credit steps letter just came in today.

it says i will get one after 3 on-time payments, around my 4th statement.

THEN i will be eligible for one by my 7th statement if i don't screw up.

i will try & squeeze a CLI out of them between the two credit steps CLIs.

I forgot about those stickers!! LOL : ) Reminded me of kindergarten when the teacher would put a star on your paper.

I asked for CLI after 2 months and recieved another $500 from $500 and now $1000. Credit steps should kick in within 2 months at which time I will ask for another CLI. Capital One has always been good to me.

I'm in the same boat as many of you guys.

I received my card in September with a $39 AF, but zero interest til March 2009 with a $500 limit. I jus got a letter yesterday talking about the step program to basically increase my credit limit to $1000 after the 4th statement and to $1500 afer the 7th.

We should definitely track our progress here.. I'm planning on calling before the first step to see if I can squeeze something out of them also...

My wife got the same thing ($39 AF, 0% till March), also in Sept, but with a $300 CL. We are just letting it report about $30 at a time. Do your cards give you 1% cash back in rewards?

If the letter says the CL will go to $100 after the 3rd statement, but she calls and gets it increased to $1000 before that statement cuts, what will it go up to? Do they do a hard pull?

It seems too soon to ask for one after only 2 months, but we'll give it a try.

One thing I did try was to have them waive the AF. The CSR told me he couldn't do it because it was just opened, but that maybe they could next year. Just asking for what you want often gets it, if its not exorbitant.... so why should I have doubts about asking for a CLI after 2 months?

I have a Capital One platinum w/ no fee that I opened in Feb of 07. Initial CL was either 500 or 750 and then bumped to 1500 a few months later. They have given me no CLIs since then and refused twice when I called and requested increases. Needless to say I now use my Discover card w/ 3K limit or Wamu card w/ 4K limit.

We called a few days ago to ask for a CLI and was declined. The CSR told us we'd get a letter in the mail with the reason but had no reason he could give us.

The second cycle just closed yesterday. Should we try again in a few days, or just wait a month for the auto?

my DS's 3rd statement cut yesterday. his letter said 3 payment on time and the 5th statement will get cli to 1000 from his 500. but he got a 500 cli with 3rd statement. does that mean another after the 5th or is this the increase they were talking about?

If you didn't get it on the third statement, you'll probably get it next month. That's been my experience.

Oh, I didn't post it on this thread, but about two weeks ago, just before the third statement cut, I called and asked for a CLI and it went from $300 to $600. Will this impact the Credit Steps CLI?

a lot of people have said that yes, it does impact the credit steps CLI.

i started at $300, & backdoored them to get another $300, for a total of $600 like yourself. my 3rd statement just cut a couple of days ago, & i already made a payment. i will let you know what kind of increase i get, whenever i get it.
