Bye CSP - Welcome CFU

My annual fee was due in June and I wasn't using this card at all except for 4 to 5 rental cars per year. Since I found out about AMEX's one-time charge per rental of $17.95 in California, I decided it was time.

I first I thought about downgrading to the Chase Sapphire with no AF, but then the rep said i would not be able to get the CSR in the future if i had an existing Sapphire product. After telling me that the CFU was a VISA Siggy, i went for it. Won't be using this card, and even better, one less card with an AF :-)

Smart move

I have the FU card, I use it for some auto payments ... not a whole lot, no problem no issues and yes it's a Signature version.

BCP - Groceries and gas

AMEX Platinum - Travel and Lounges

CSP - was for rental cards only --> PC to CFU - No use

Uber - Restaurants and Uber rides

PenFed Pathfinder - Travel Credit $100, Global Entry $100 Both used this year

EDP - Currently meeting $1k spend for 20k MRs - Will downgrade to ED and no use

Keep in mind that by using Platinum as a general-purpose travel card, you are going to be without trip cancelation or delay protection (unless you purchase it separately).

I’ve been traveling frequently for the last three decades (including about 40 international trips) and have never once had reason to use trip cancelation or delay protection, and have never purchased it separately. I consider it to be an unnecessary form of insurance. So I think using Platinum for travel is a good plan if you have a way to use the MRs.

Delay protection...maybe unnecessary. I wouldn't say the same applies to cancelation protection.

I've used the former and come close to needing the latter.
