4 Citi cards I want to close - Do they move credit limits?

I am looking to minimize my financial life. That includes closing cards I no longer use.

Starting with Citi, I have:

Premeire - $2000 CL - Opened 9/2013

Double Cash - $10,600 CL - Opened 9/2014

Prestige - $11,000 CL - Opened 11/2015

Simplicity - $2,700 CL - Opened 5/2015

Ideally I would like to close 3 and move CL's over to Double Cash. Just to keep a relationship with Citi. Does Citi do that?

They recently did it for my Simplcity. They can't move the entire credit line over, but nthey can do a majority of it.

I've read mixed reviews/results with those trying to move/combine Citi limits.

You should easily get your two lower card limits moved over but to combine the two higher ones after that might be an issue depending on your current income.
When i did this with chase i was able to combine almost 75% of my cards amounts.
I would 1st combine the 2 lower ones into the one you want to keep then call back a month or two later to combine the two major ones.

Yes, I haven't done this recently but two or so years ago the "policy" as related by CSRs kept changing, from "no problem" to "we've stopped doing that" to "we have never done that". So if you get turned down on the first call, no matter how clearly the (made up) policy is stated, it's certainly worth trying again with a new CSR. That said, there was a time where they really didn't do it, so if rejected by say 3, I would stop trying for now.

In addition to @Anonymous 's comment, reallocation of any CLs with Citi may result in a HP. YEMV.

If turned down by multiple front line CSRs, would it be worth a call/letter to the CEO to prompt a call back from the EO? Many times they are able to get things done that CSRs aren't able to do, although I'm not sure this topic would be one of them.

In a variety of situations, especially escalated instances, they can engage the right department to fulfill the request.

However, it's still going to be a YEMV outcome, likely an HP, and not all of the CLs may be combined. It would depend on the OP willing to consider those options for sure.
