Amex approvals without a HP

This is my first post but I was wondering about something. I have several Amex cards but on 5/19 I was approved for the Amex BBP and then I was approved for the Amex EDP on 5/26 but I haven't seen a HP on either of these apps. Is this normal or is the system just slow and they'll appear later? Also I have to say I love these boards, Everybody seems so knowledgeable. Anyway thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums! Lots of folks on here have reported that existing AMEX customers can open new accounts without a HP. Looks like you are one of them. Congrats! As always, YMMV, but if you haven't gotten an alert already, I would assume you're good to go!

Yeah I honestly can't remember the last time I ever had a HP from Amex. Maybe the first card I ever got with them, but that was it. Congrats to you on your approvals!

Yeah, Amex is definitely one of the few lenders that won't HP you if you app for a 2nd (or more) product with them. Other lenders like Chase may give only one HP if you apply for two products at the same time, but Amex has been known to use one HP and that's it.

I suppose the thinking here is that they have a monthly SP on you from the EX FICO 8 score that they provide on the account, so they always know where you stand. It is interesting though that they don't give the HP, since it is clearly an application for new credit. You'd think they'd want other [competing] lenders to see the HP, because if anything it would result in more denials for those competing products, thus allowing the Amex product to be used more.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I've never realized that they did that since with my other cards they did a HP for approval but I'm thrilled that I got both cards I wanted and no hits to my credit report.

I was approved for Amex Everyday with a starting limit of $14,500. I opted to do their balance transfer for 0% for 15 months, brining 6,200 to the card. So far, no hard pull, unless it was through Experian, which I don't have alerts for. I was prequalified for this card and at least one other of theirs that I checked.

I'm hoping to be able to 3x cli with Amex.
