I'm sure there is a forum out there on this topic already, however I wanna hear opinion's on best cards right now. I'm mainly interested in cash back type cards, but open to all opinions, plus new cards people have gotten that they like or dislike for 2018! Thanks!

EDIT: I want to hear what people are using for travel cards... I'm not a traveler, but I would like to be so if I could get a card that could help with a vacation of some sort then all the better!

Best is subjective. It depends on some factors.

Chase

If you bank with Chase, their cards are great. Still great if you don't.

- Freedom - Higher cash back with rotating categories

- Freedom Unlimited - Cash back at a flat rate

- Sapphire (Preffered or Reserve) - Point card, but if paired with a Freedom, you can transfer the points from/to a cash back card.

American Express

Amex offers some great cash back cards.

- Blue Cash - 3% back on groceries and 2% back on gas

- Blue Cash Preffered - 6% back on groceries and 3% back on gas, however has a $95 annual fee.

Capital One

Capital One offers some good cash back cards

- Quicksilver - 1.5% back on all purchases, no annual fee (The One version has a $39 annual fee)

- Savor - Don't know the details, but is good if you eat out alot.

This is subjective. I do not have a relationship with Discover, Citi or anyone else. These are the 3 companies I deal with. Your situation may be different.

I like Chase because it is easy to get the 5% cashback on Amazon and Gas. You have to activate them once in a while on none Amazon Chase cards, such as Slate and Freedom. The problem is my credit limit on each card that wouldn't budge.. 16 years (1 CLI), 11 years (1 CLI) and 4 years (1 CLI). I guess I need to apply with HP to get them increased.

American Express, once you have an account you can apply for other accounts with SP through their offers (info that I gathered). 1%,3%,6% cashback and generous CLI on my BCP. Best card ever but with annual fee $95.

Citibank has automatic discount (three months period) on purchased. However, you have to talk to a representative sometimes to give you the 5% discount on any purchased you made at least that is what I have received on mine.

Capital One ----> No more CLI like 6 months or 1 year. Low cash back per centage so not recommended anymore. 11 years 2 months, 11 years, 2 months, 15 years 9 months.

Discover IT. With cashback match, 14 mo/0% intro rate. Unrivaled 10% back on the quarterly categories (up to $150 earned per quarter) 2% on everything else. You can also get 10% on the Discover Deals (Target online, etc.) with no max.

And no annual fee!

Nice cash back! They sent me an offer but at the moment I cannot apply for any credit card because I still trying to get mortage soon. I will apply for Discover next time once mortage application is done. I also heard Discover is very generous with their CLI too.

There are a ton of things you can do with them. They are probally the most valuable points out there.

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback! I've heard a lot of good things about Citi DC with its 2% and BC Uber with 4% on resturants etc... any other 2% cards out their with no AF?

I haven't read the replies, but I'm gonna guess everyone is saying Chase and Amex for rewards, plus Discover, NFCU, and Uber.

Synchrony PayPal Cashback Mastercard, straight 2% cash back no cap, redeem instantly anytime, no redemption minimum, easy SP CLIs. Not sure why this one isn’t way more popular than the Citi double cash. In 6mo I went from $3000 SL to $10000. Also, if you have the PayPal business debit card, you can use this card as backup funding and get the 1% cash back from that plus the 2% from the MasterCard, as well as redeem your cash back instantly for cash from an ATM since it goes into your PayPal account.

Fidelity Visa/Citi DC 2% everywhere - Fidelity for Bills and Citi DC for all other purchases that don’t fit a category.

Cap 1 Savor - 3% on restaurants

Discover - 5% on categories

Of course I have hotel and airline cards that are only used if I’m staying at their hotel or flying their airline.

That about sums up my system. I have a BOA cash rewards that I use to use for gas (3.3%) but since I only gas up my car twice a month I just throw gas purchases on my Citi DC. Not to mention, BOA won’t increase my limit from 2k so that contributed as well.
