Capital One Secured Graduation

Hi Guys

First time poster long time lurker. Decided to pay it forward and add some DP’s for the capital one secured card holders. Thank you to all who has been posting questions on this forum and of course the people who contributes with wise guidance.

got my capital one secured card 10 months ago. Where I had to put in 100 Of my own money for a 200 limit. I had burned capital one twice in 2012. Still have the charge off on my reports and still unpaid. Nonetheless I was approved and was excited about it. From the information I gathered here.

I used the card very heavily the first few months because at that time I only had two credit cards. I always let about 25 report every month. Come the fifth statement they upped my limit to 500. From that point on I rarely used it except for month less than 10 monthly subscriptions reporting. Shortly after my 10th statement closed I got an email saying they unsecured my card and my 100 was refunded that same day.

since I’ve been on this board and learned the steps to take I waited a few days and used the upgrade link and was able to upgrade my once no frills card to the quicksilver no annual fee card yassss! My month parking and auto insurance will be be going on to that card instead of the 1% discover card.

score at the time of approval was all around 580’s FICO 8

score at graduation around 620

utilization is always below 20% for all cards.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been wondering about this very thing. How long did yours take to start reporting. I’m in my second month now and it still has not shown up on my reports.

Yeah no problem. It didn’t take long for mines to report I think mines reported after the close of my first or second statement. I just got an alert on Credit Karma on day.

I think it depends on what time of the month you opened the account and the days before your closing statement date happens before it starts reporting. I would hang out till after the second statement closes. If by then still nothing I would call them up and see what’s up.

Thanks for pointers. My 5th statement just cut yesterday, however, haven't seen any CLI maybe I will have to wait for 1 year for it to graduate, always had some activity on the card and paid before statement cut date. out of 5 months so far only twice I put more than 100$ on CC but paid in full before the statement.

Congrats on your graduation, i'll share some info i've been dealing with for future reference. I had a capital one secured and a discover secured that I opened last fall, my discover went unsecured to 2,500 and they sent me a check. But capital one added my secured payment into my card and increased the limit from 250 to 500. However now most of my cards are 2.5k - 4k or so on credit limit and my capital one sits at 500. So I called and the lady explained that with the secured card they offer a 1 time credit increase and it wasn't eligible for a cli. Sort of frustrating but it is what it is I guess.

I opened in February 2018 and it didn't beging reporting until March.

Congratulations! I opeend my Cap One secured card in February 2018 and without any notice received an increase from $200 to $500. Can't wait until it's unsecured.

Did you get any notices when you got the increases? I just found out from an alart on MyFICO. Nothing from CapOne except my statement CL is now $500. I was expecting some sort of congratulations! LOL Sounds like I'll get one when it's unsecured.
