Capital One Account Combination Approval

Ive had a Cap1 Venture 1 that started as a "bucket card" at a $500SL and over 6 years it has grown on its on, "no love button" to $3500CL and I also have a Cap1 QS1 that I have had for 3 years that was stuck at $750SL until I recently CLI to $850. Decided I wanted to close out the QS1 as it will never grow until I ran across another post saying you could combine accounts. So I tried it out and was able to transfer the QS1 CL to the Venture 1 for a total of $4350CL. Not bad for a bucket card. Maybe this post will help other people out, until yesterday I didnt even know this was an option.

Congratulations, and thanks for the data point. I'm fixing - as I posted elsewhere, you might have seen this - to combine my own two Quicksilvers, planning to merge a QS Mastercard (originally Platinum, PC'ed last June) that was seemingly bucketed until I got a CLI from $3.5K to $6K in March, into a QS Visa Signature with $10K SL that I got in June. I haven't received any CLI's yet on the Visa but the next statement should cut by the end of the week; since it's advisable to check for CLI's before combination so you don't "leave money on the table", I want to see if I get any auto-CLI on the Visa, then hit the button, before going ahead with the combo. I checked and both cards appear to be eligible, so once I get a definitive result on CLI one way or the other I'm going to proceed with the combo.

Great advice, I should have read these boards more often and done some more research before I just closed my Quicksilver one out of frustration.

I'm going to go ahead and apply for the combination after my statement cuts, possibly as early as tomorrow. I requested a CLI on the Visa and got the 2-3 day message, which probably means it's declined (EDIT; the letter has already appeared in my documents file, with the good old "your monthly payments have been too low" boilerplate). With luck, the newly combined card will have a $16K line so it's not that big of a deal anyway.
