can pay sue me

i have paypal it when to limit and can't use it i want to stop paying on it since i have other five credit cards that i do use i pay on and was wondering can they take me to court and put me in jail for not paying i do know it will rase heck with my credit

Putting you in jail is very unlikely unless you were committing some kind of crime, but do be aware that refusing to pay what you owe on a credit card (I assume you're talking about either the Paypal Extras Mastercard or 2% Cashback MC) is certain to have a serious impact on your overall credit. It would be a far better idea instead to pay off the remaining balance on that card, close it, and then walk away from Paypal without looking back.

Debtor prison is extremely unlikely, but judgements or garnishments from your pay check are a real thing among the hit to your credit. Best of luck

I do not think so. TD Bank sent me a summons, and it clearly stated that I cannot go to jail for not paying my debt. The following may happen to you: your account may be sold to a collections agency, assingned to an attorney, or the account may just stay within Synchrony Bank's (which issued your PayPal account) internal collections department.

Could you provide us with some details about your financial situation? Additionally, could you provide us with the current status of your PayPal account (e.g., limit, payment status, balance, etc.) so that I or myFico's experts can chime in?

You won't go to jail, but at some point, they'll file a judgement against you and garnish wages, bank accounts, etc. till they collect your debt, interest and fees.
In the meantime, other creditors will be on alert as well and most likely start to balance chase, so it'll affect your credit relationship with other lenders, and not just your score.

I agree with all above.

And as stated, if you stop paying on the paypal, more than likely the other

cards will take action and either lower limits or close them altogether.

SO that means if you stop paying, you might not get to use any of the others....and it could happen quickly.

Just cut the cards in half, and make payments properly.

Once balances are at 0, then decide to either close the accounts yourself,

or manage them correct to your personal financial situation.

If I understand your post correctly you are saying that you can no longer use your PayPal credit card because you have maxed out your credit limit and now you are considering no longer paying what you owe on that card because you can no longer make new purchases on the card until you pay it down.

Although I doubt there is any criminal activity involved that could result in "jail" (such as fraud), your suggestion to no longer pay because the card is maxed out is a very poor choice and "if" that is the case reflects a basic lack of understanding as to how to use or manage credit cards.

You mentioned that you had 5 other cards that you could use - I assume because they are not maxed out - and you expected to continue paying on those cards because they were still "useful". I also assume that you have the ability to pay since you did not mention financial difficulties in your post. I'd strongly suggest that you continue to pay on all your accounts and do not let accounts go into "default" due to your limits constraining your ability to spend (overspend).

Use the experience of a maxed out card that results in a debt that is now temporarily no longer useful as a learning experience to budget properly understand that the credit lines offered within credit cards are not the same as money in the bank - every time you use a card you are borrowing money and if that money is not paid back 30 days you are paying interest to borrow that money.

Can they sue you? Yes, they can bring a civil suit against you. You should know that if they do, and if there is a court verdict in their favor, that shows up as a judgment on your credit reports, and it is much worse than an account simply being in collection or written off.

There is another danger if you stop paying Paypal. Your other creditors will know that immediately because of the changes on your credit report. They may easily decide that they no longer want you to spend money on their cards and balance chase or close your accounts. You would still be responsible for paying those as well.

Don't stiff your creditors. It's not a good idea.

Haven't seen Op return, this thread may run on and I believe replies have been satisfactory. Bottom line try not to just ignore one card while paying others , effects will be felt.
