Bye bye bye, I have one or two Chase cards that will most likely be dumped this year as well. The Amazon card is my favorite, followed by the IHG and Freedom. The others can go away and probably will in a few months.

Closed Chase Freedom Unlimited

I currently have 3 Chase Cards, the Freedom Unlimited VS which used to be the standard Freedom VS with a $10k CL, the AARP VS with a $6k CL and the Amazon Prime VS 5k CL. Although Chase is highly regarded on these forums these cards are not my favorites due to two of them being my only bank cards under $10k and as far as the Freedom Unlimited being at 24.74% apr. I always PIF on these accounts usually as soon as the transaction posts online, but still the $24.74% bugs me.

Today I wrote Chase and asked to reduce the APR on the FU and if that was not possible to transfer the FU credit limit to my AARP card (17.74% apr) because of the lower APR - one where I could carry a balance if need be. The reply was that the FU apr could not be reduced, but they would be glad to transfer $9500 to my AARP card - I agreed which will take the card to $15.5k and leave me with only one card under $10k the Amazon Prime card (I also have an Amazon Sync account with a $10k CL in case I need to use 0% financing).

As soon as the credit limit transfer is complete I'll close the Freedom Unlimited - one less card no big deal

Add: as of now the credit limt has been transferred and I've requested Chase to close the Freedom VS card

Sounds like you have it covered.

I personally would not fret—Chase is highly regarded here, but there is a lot of pushback about Chase that makes my DH uneasy, and he has a wallet full of Chase cards.

CFU is pretty unremarkable if you don't have (or plan to get) an AF Sapphire or Ink card.

My understanding is that it's quite uncommon for Chase to decrease an APR upon customer request.

Yep. I have a CFU that's up at 24.74% right now. It was originally my Providian builder card 20+ years ago, which automatically became a WaMu, then Chase, then Chase Slate, then I PC'd it to a CFU. When I PC'd it, I asked them to lower the APR. They flat out told me they do not lower the APR on customer request, that it will only be lowered automatically.

They auto put me on an 8.9% promo through January recently and I now have a green check for the CSR, but they still won't permanently lower the APR.

Just like my siggy says--I have a 23.xx% APR Freedom that was my first Chase card a little over 4 years ago that's currently one of my lowest limits that will be gone in another month or so. I can sort of understand the high APR and the low limit as my file was somewhat "dirty" when I app'ed for it. But I don't have ay use for it---so away it goes! I'll move the $1k over to one of my other 2 cards.
