Has anybody experienced Chase closing your credit card account. I called chase immediately to reconsider their decision. A few days later I noticed under my credit card account tab it is no longer showing the account is closed, but it has 0 available credit. Does this mean the account is still closed or is it reopened with no credit available? So confused about this haha

Thank You!

Call the automated system and see whether the available credit changed at all. If it says $0 then it's likely the closure stayed in place or you may need to contact the portfolio risk review folks to see when (and if) the account's available credit will be restored. Was your account closed due to Adverse Action?

Gotcha. Thanks for sharing those data points. It will certainly help others, especially since anecdotal evidence such as yours definitely reinforces the fact that AA with Chase is still alive and well.

More often than not, some folks aren't able to get their accounts reopened. You were definitely fortunate 👍

I got my CFU and 5 more accounts during an app spree a couple months back and if AA hits me then it was well deserved however I keep my utilization low and PIF every months and so far chase has been receptive. Chase gave me a low SL so I'm not sure if that means less risk on their end so less potential for AA.

LOL

I've never been interested in obtaining a Chase card and likely never shall.

Chase is WAY too strict for my taste, I already have parents, thank you very much. Not to mention I'm a responsible adult, usually.

I'm happy this worked out for you OP, most others have not been so blessed.

CHEERS

You could be doing yourself a big disservice by eliminating Chase as a potential creditor. They have some of the best reward cards in the market. Chase is no more stringent than other creditors and far less than some like Barclays and Comenity. Because so many forum members have their cards and in some cases, a lot of them, posters often have this assumption that they AA a lot and that is far from the truth.

I appreciate that..

I'll keep them in the back of my mind.. I've read so many stories here about AA, it's made me paranoid. LOL

I have a few Comenity cards and have had no issues so when I see posts about them, I usually shrug it off.

I suppose I'm being unfair to Chase since I should view it the same as Comenity.

They wouldn't take me right now anyway as I'm over 5/24 but thank you for the info.

CHEERS

Just aren't applying for the right cards as many of their nice cherries aren't under the 5/24 rule and they would love your business with your scores

I agree with @Anonymous, not every lender is for everyone and every individual has their own tolerance for risk. By the same token, nothing ventured, nothing gained. A few negative experiences, much like any other product reviews anywhere else, would require digging further so one could make an informed decision whether it's worth the risk or reward.

For instance, I currently have 9 Chase CCs - sure, not the norm by any standards, but their products and reward structures are just irresistible to me 😁. At the same time I'm limited by 5/24 on some products, but not discouraged by that restriction since I have options for others.

That being said, it helps to know and study the landscape to avoid AA (if possible) since MF members have witnessed other members' portfolios get CLD or shut down altogether with Comenity, Barclays, SYNCB, Chase, BoA, etc. It happens.

IME, I'm fully aware that any of my credit activities can rustle the nest for some of the other lenders and try to be strategic as possible. If it happens, lesson learned and have a contingency plan. The beauty about a "crumbled castle" is that it can be rebuilt again 😁 Just my .02¢
