"Citi and American Airlines are polishing up the Citi® / AAdvantage® Bronze credit card, giving it enhanced earning power and a new name.

Launching on July 22, 2018, the new AAdvantage® MileUp℠ credit card will continue to have no annual fee, but it will come with a new rewards structure:

Earn 2 AAdvantage® miles for every $1 spent on eligible American Airlines purchases and at grocery stores.
Earn 1 AAdvantage® mile for every $1 spent on all other purchases."

"Like all American Airlines credit cards co-branded with Citi, the AAdvantage MileUp℠ card also comes with the following benefits:

Get 25% savings off of in-flight food and beverage purchases.
Ability to purchase presale tickets and VIP experiences through the Citi Private Pass program."

In other words, rendering the $50/year gold AAdvantage card useless.

Just dawned on me I can now access Citi Private Pass! Hopefully there will some good concerts to check out this summer.

I mean it is...

You're going from an earnings category of $2 = 1 mile, to $1 = 2 miles on grocery and AA purchases, and $1 = 1 mile on everything else. Citi has improved the bronze and platinum card, but why haven't they touched executive and gold???

Exec won’t be changed because of 10 AUs and card perks.

25k SUB and reduced miles option. It appears that all have something different, Individuals will need to apply for the card that fits them the best or have two after a 24 month period.

The bronze was already phased out.

I don't get why they'd bring that back, re-brand it, and then phase out an already existing card.

If they did improve the Gold, I'd consider downgrading to save on the AF. Would just depend on what they do.
