Chase’s underwriting makes no sense sometimes. I called in on Wednesday to ask for CLI and only got a $2,000 increase. But I applied for the United Club Card and get approved for $15,000 SL. Two HP’s resulted both on my Experian. I found it out that the rep didn’t ask me how much I wanted.

Many people have found Chase will lend more on a new account than they will on a CLI.

A lot of credit card companies will give you far more in new card limit than they will for a CLI so Chase isn’t unusual. It sorta makes sense in that they figure you are more likely to use a new card than an old one. They want the swipes.
