My AMEX Blue Cash has a link for a complimentary 30 day report and score. This doesn't sound like the same thing as the daily pulls. What card do you have that on? If I get my complimentary report will they then try to charge me for something after 30 days?

I just logged onto to check my Amex account. I noticed where they are offering a free Experian score and report. Am I to assume this is just a FAKO score? Would that be a hard or soft pull? I don't think I'll bother, but I was wondering if someone had tried it.

Look on their toolbar and click the drop-down menu for Additional Products and Services. Choose Credit Secure (fourth one down on my screen.)

There's a one-month trial where you can only pull once, and then once you cough up the money, it's daily pulls for all three bureaus. And you don't have to wait 24 hours, as we did with sorely-missed TrueCredit: just so it's the next calendar date. I don't know if this is what you're looking at, though. I had an EX-only daily pull through USAA which became redundant once I reluctantly signed up for CS.

I don't like CS as much, because I think the Experian report format is kindergarten-ish, and it doesn't update nearly as promptly as TC did, but these days, it's all I've got.

And for people po'd at AmEx who still want to keep their card open, it's a great automatic monthly use that will keep the card ticking over.

I imagine if the Plus score increased 100 points, there's a reasonable chance the corresponding Fico score would increase, but the amount of the increase could be anything from 1 point to 200 points. Any correlation between the two scoring models is mostly coincidence. People have reported differences of more than 100 points.

From December to February, my EX Plus score increased 22 points while my EX Fico did not change. Meanwhile, my EQ Plus score stayed unchanged while my EQ Fico increased 18 points. Two of my Plus scores were higher than my Fico scores, the other was lower.

Each scoring model places different weight on different scoring elements. If you had both positive and negative changes in your credit report (such as utilization percentage goes down but number of new inquiries go up), it's entirely possible your Plus score and Fico score might change in opposite directions ...

When you pull up your reports, click the score tab. You'll see that it says PLUS score. Look at the very bottom:

DISCLAIMER

The PLUS ScoreSM, developed by Experian, is not an endorsement or guarantee of your credit worthiness as seen by lenders. The different risk levels presented here are for educational use only. Your PLUS Score can help you understand what factors impact your credit score.

Please be aware that there are many scoring models used in the marketplace, and each lender´s scoring model has its own set of factors. How each lender weighs their chosen factors may vary, but the exact formula used to calculate your score is proprietary. In general, the higher your score, the better your chances are of obtaining favorable rates and terms.

Your PLUS Score was calculated using your actual data from your credit file on the day that you requested your report, making it comparable to most scoring models in the industry. Keep in mind however that other factors, such as length of employment and annual salary, are often taken into consideration by lenders when making decisions about you.

Also note that each bureau has its own set of data, resulting in a separate PLUS Score for each of your credit files.

Services like CS work for monitoring your reports, not your scores.

Ignore the scores, and keep the service. The report monitoring is useful, especially if you are actively working to clean up your credit.

Consumers can't buy their FICO EX scores any more.

You can find it out if you apply for a mortgage (pretty drastic!), as lenders are required to show you your three scores, and almost all pull FICO's. If you qualify for membership in PSECU (not many of us do), you receive an EX FICO with your monthly statement:

PSECU Eligibility

That's pretty much it.

Again, though, the advantage of CreditSecure and other monitoring services is to see what's happening on your reports, not your scores. Once you have a pretty good feel for what sort of changes on your credit reports affect your FICO scores, you'll kinda/ sorta know what's happening with your EX FICO.

Not a great consolation, I know.
