I know you're aware that psychic has a very similar profile and history as you, and they got him a few weeks ago.

At any rate, it's pretty irrelevant for us, as we have such low util that the lost CL isn't particularly missed in total CL. My util is something like 1/100 of 1% or something crazy like that.

I just got the 50% chop ($18K to $9K) by BofA, and I posted this on psychic's thread. He posted back with the letter that finally arrived by snail mail, referring to his TU report.

I got curious and checked my TU full report, and sure enough, they had softed me the previous month, only on TU. All my other softs by them have been on EX.

Those of you who access your full reports, do you see a soft by them on TU, when they've never checked your TU before?

If so, we might have an indicator that the guillotine is being sharpened up, especially for you.

eta: I did find some promo softs by BofA on my TU from last fall, but this one was under the Account Review section. On top of which, every other inq by BofA has a Wilmington, Delaware addy, but this one was from Greensboro, NC:

BANK OF AMERICA
pe
4161 PIEDMONT PKWY
1825 E BUCKEYE RD
GREENSBORO , NC 27410
(800) 451-6362

I remember a year or more ago, when we noted that softs by AmEx from a Greensboro NC address preceded bad news, as opposed to those coming from El Paso or somewhere in Florida. Is Greensboro now the home of credit choppers?
Message Edited by haulingthescoreup on 04-17-2009 07:10 PM

Click on first-time user to dispute a report. Once you've done this, you can continue to pull updated reports by going back to the same site, but this time click the Returning? button. Enter your username and pw, log in, and click the first orange bar, "Submit Dispute." Oddly, you don't have to dispute anything --it just pulls a refreshed full report.

For a long time, I went back and forth, trying to decide if it was ethical. But they obviously know this loophole is present and haven't elected to close it, so there you are. That being said, though, I only pull once a month or less. I don't want to lose access.

Even though it's probably a violation of FCRA, all three CRA's keep "losing" soft inquiries, so I keep a running list on Notepad on my desktop. Interesting to see who's looking at what, and this is how I saw that every other soft by BofA was out of Wilmington, until this one came along.

And they did their regular soft on EX at the end of February, and this one came along some time in March (TU only shows MM / YYYY). So it's definitely out of pattern.

Both BofA and Discover pulled account review inquiries on my TU in 04/2009. I see nothing from either of them in the previous two years. My BofA is at the one year point this month. Discover is between six months and one year. My BofA AMEX card is at 9.9% F and I have never received any type of auto-CLI and I was turned down when I asked for one at the six month point with a lame explanation from them (CL=$3,500). Since I don't feel they have been overly generous with me I certainly hope they don't decide to turn around and punish me for my good behavior. I have no problem with Discover, The CL is still at the $8,100 it was at opening, but the APR has actually gone down to 9.9% V. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for no problems.

Hauling BofA softed me on TU using from the Greensboro address but no AA as of yet. Card is only 5K and I was denied a few months back for a CLI. Since the kids have the card it does see usage every month but never more than 6% of the limit. Always PIF too. I think the smaller limits are probably safe larger ones maybe not. Sorry about the AA.

Pulled my report (think I also used my annual free report in the process dangit) and I do have an account review from BofA dated 3/2009 out of Greensboro, NC. No other inquiries (promo or otherwise) on my TU report. My limit is only $1000 on my Accelerated Amex, but in these ecomonic times you never know.

The corporate HQ of BofA is located in NC so I don't find that particularly odd. I suspect that every BofA account will reviewed there eventually. It also is the one year point for that account. I find the Discover INQ a little stranger - they have never looked there before and it is an odd time. Anyway, they both keep churning out the BT offers at 3.99%/9 months and 1.99%/6 months, 3.99%/10 months respectively so I am not too worried about it. It's just about time for some balance realignment so if I get RJ'ed and the BT offers are still out there that wll be a tremendous incentive to get to it.

This is all probably the work of some industrious sales and marketing people at TU pushing the increased use of their information during this time of credit tribulation.

just to let you all know, credit card companies softing you isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's fairly routine among creditors. navy federal softs its members -- the ones that have loan products at least -- every other month. it's basically just checking to see if your credit has gone to @^$% so they can adjust your rate accordingly.
