Amex Update!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to update you all on my Amex membership progress. So I have been with them since April. Since then I have checked pre approvals on their site in my account just out of curiosity. I havent checked in a few weeks. I was just like "you know what its been a while, let me check if im pre approved for anything or if it gives me the "expanding your membership is easy" message." Im not applying, im just curious. So I check and every card I checked, wether it be the Blue Cash card, delta platinum, cash magnet, etc.... all the cards said pre approved! The only ones that seem to not say it are the charge cards, which is the card I want next (Platinum). So hopefully in a few months the pre approval message starts showing up for that! I just wanted to update you all! I hope youre all enjoying your summer!

You are doing things right if that is the message you are seeing. Give it time and you should get the Platinum to show up as a pre-approval, too!

Where do you see pre-approvals at. I see the link for "Recomended Cards for You" but for me at least, that shows all cards and only invites me to apply. Is there another place I should be looking to see if I am pre-approved for anything?

Click on ‘Menu’, then go to ‘Cards’ and off to the right you’ll see ‘Check for Pre-qualified offers ‘

However don’t rely on just what cards appear in the list. Just click on any card, hit the apply link and it will tell you if you’re prequalified

Thanks for the help. I got an auto CLI last month but I dont appear to be pre-approved for any other cards. My ED was opened in November 2017, and I have gotten two auto CLI's on it and my scores are up significantly, so this surprises me. Forturnely, I don't need another card and am kind of grateful they are not tempting me with a pre-qualified offer.

Does the "Expanding your membership with us is easy" mean that's a prequal or is that the opposite? On the chat window the rep told me that any of the featured cards are preapprovals as well but I'm not sure at all.

Even though it doesn't say you're pre approved for the plaitnum, I feel like the platinum is the eaiest one to get lol. Those Charge Cards really aren't that hard to be approved for, but maybe im wrong.

Ok this is a little bit worrisome and funny at the same time. Within an hour of asking on here about prequal offers there appeared a post on my Facebook from AmEx inviting me to check for prequal offers. Lol. We are bring tracked.

First, sometimes I think that too. Like our membership here comes with free credit card issuer stalking lol. Secondly; Vinster, give it two or three months. The charge cards all became pre approvals for me about that time after the revolvers became pre approved.

I’m just a little disappointed that whenever I’m logged in, the cash magnet completely disappears from me. I see it in incognito and check for prequal but it recognizes me as a member and asks me to log in then it disappears ☺️

It should come back. If you know you're pre approved for it just don't log in and app for it.

Curious as well. I see "Applying to expand your membership with us is easy". Does that mean it's not a solid prequal?

Expand your membership is NOT pre approval. *your first name*, you are pre approved; is a pre approval. Expand your membership will likely get a HP if approved. If denied there is no HP.

It means you are not pre-approved for that card. If you were pre-approved, the message would say "Frank784, you are pre-approved! Get a decision in as little as 30 seconds."

The "Expanding your membership" statement does not prevent you from applying but Amex will pull your Experian credit report. When you're pre-approved they generally will approve the new card with just a soft pull.

American Express has a dynamic website; if they feel you don't meet the qualifications for a particular card it will be removed from view when you log in.

There's an easy way to check this. When not logged in you should see 18 personal Amex cards. If you see less when logged in you don't yet meet the criteria for that card.

Thank you for the confirmation. I guess I will wait for it to say "you are pre-approved".

Revolvers opened up for me around my 3rd statement and charge cards around my 6th. Give it time. Treat Amex well and they will shower you with cards and SLs once they warm up.

Thank you, Irish! I've been wondering for quite some time how to define a solid Amex pre-qual, that "Apply Now" button is scary when you're in the garden! :-)

Forgive me if this is too personal.. I see that you have 3 revolvers & your PRG. Did you app for these at the same time or did you start off with 1 and then wait for pre-approvals at the 3 and 6 month mark?
