Fraud on Marvel accounts

Just got off the phone with Synchrony after I noticed my card was locked down. Apparently this is a wide spread issue. Some of you may want to check your transactions.

If you get a message to call in, don't assume it's the dreaded blue envelope.😂

Yes, several test transactions for Louisville KY. The CSR said I wasn't the only one.

Glad they caught it. I just logged on to my own Synchrony accounts (PayPal MC, Care Credit, Amazon and Walmart) and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Glad to read that y'all accounts are fine.

She said there were other charges, but they blocked them. So I don't see those at all.

Synchrony is pretty good about catching fraudulent charges.

Thanks OP, after reading this thread, I log in to my Marvel account, sure enough there is a red banner stating the account is locked and ask me to call in. There were several attempts according to the CSR but none went thru. They closed and issued a new card/number. It must happened within last 24 hours as I check all my accounts on every Sunday evenings.

ETA, My other Synchrony accounts wasn’t affected (WalMart M/C, PayPal, Ebates)

Glad they took care of their card members, I checked all my snych cards all good Maybe it was just the marvel accounts?

It does look like someone was trying to crack into Marvel MC accounts specifically, as nobody who's reported in so far has news of issues with any other Sync accounts.

So far so good. PayPal and Marvel ok. Weird, I did see I already have $12 cashback with my PP MC. Who needs more than a n a $300 limit lol

Same happened to me they try to charge $1,000/Marvel on8/17 they are sending a new card

Looks as though Synchrony's Marvel database has been compromised.
AJC, you may have been far enough down the list to where Synchrony was able to shield your account.
It wouldn't surprise me if every one with a Marvel card received a replacement.

About 1-2 weeks ago.... edit(checked my phone records) august 7th I noticed charges and called in.

Had an intuit $5 charge a new balance $350 charge and another charge I think around $175

on my walmart mastercard.

I logged in one night and saw them. I called them right up and let them know.

rep said I did not need to change my password or anthing like that.

They would send new card.

I could not log into my account until I received new card and entered in the 3 dig on the back.

DId that and still saw the intuit charge and live chat with rep who took it off instantly.

Got email from ups saying shoe box was headed my way...was expecting to refuse it, but

it was return to sender automatically. haha.

I tried to use my Marvel card to purchase a movie ticket yesterday and was declined X2. Logged into my account and had the red banner at the top.

The CSR was nice enough but kept asking me if anyone else had access to the card. I know it is just part of her job but doesn't sit well this morning with what looks like a Marvel CC hack. She did state the person trying the card kept getting the CID or the expiration date wrong.

I guess from a PR perspective it looks better for Synchrony if 'your' card gotr hacked versus 'We' got hacked......

Yup mine was compromised, did my usual weekly check and got the red banner, called someone tried to charge legal services...oh the irony....LOL all good now! Thanks for the heads up OP I thought it was just me......

Yep just now checked all my Sync accounts and only Marvel seems to be breached, it seems that's the only one with a problem - I'll call them when I get a chance

CSR told me there were attempts against my account on the 15th and again on the 18th. New card with new account # is on the way and was offered a gentle reminder that I needed to doublecheck and make arrangements if I had set up any recurring charges to the card.

After the lengthy holds I recently had to go through with calls to both USB and Banco do Brasil I kind of appreciated the immediate transfer to a live agent with no wait time.
