Nordstrom visa signature UPGRADE success!

I was able to get upgraded to the visa signature by asking. A little bit of background, I’ve had the Nordstrom card for about four years now ( The store card version). In that Time my credit limit has gone from $1000 to $20,000. My credit score is a 654. I emailed the office of the president, who we directed me to a very nice woman in the credit department. She called me a couple of days later and asked if she could pull a credit report. I gave her permission to do so. About 10 minutes later she called me back and said that I was all set and that she had been able to make the exception and upgrade me to the visa signature! So there is definitely a way to get it done, it just requires a little bit of legwork.

Wow, in 4 years you went from 1k to 20k!?! That's amazing.

Was it all automatic CLIs?

I'm surprised they wanted to take a HP. I was able to convert a while back just by calling regular customer service and they click a button just like when requesting a cli and it spits back yes or no without credit pull.

Congratulations! You get a few more benefits vs. the store version and if you carry a balance at times, the internal purchase APR rate is very, very low. Enjoy!!

Does your limit have to be at least 5k to be upgraded to visa sig? Mine is like 4.5k now (all auto cli). I did request last year or year before last and the rep told me they were only doing them by invitation only.

Not that I would actually use the card outside of Nordstrom, it’s just good to know it could be used elsewhere if I wanted too.

Also what number would you call? May attempt this again.

My understanding, from some DPs floating around, the minimum CL for the VS upgrades used to be $5K. Unless they've changed some internal policies that allow the upgrade to VS with CLs <$5K or at least the Platinum Visa as the alternate.

My limit is $6000, I called in to customer service today to request an upgrade. He told me my limit qualified me but put me on hold and came back with an “unfortunately...” but it does seem like you can call in and request a review again and the 5000 minimum limit still holds true.

My score is 672, for reference.

I was watching these posts. I called in yesterday...I have a 6000 CL. Asked for an upgrade. Waited a minute or two and she said no problem....will have the visa within 7 days. All my scores are in the 720's.

Hi thanks for that info.... how long did you have the card? Also does anyone know how often you can get CLIs? I just for my first after having the card for 7 months
My limit went from 2000 to 2500 🙄

It was not an auto CLI I requested it via the online form.

You can get a increase every 4 to 6 months. From my experience, and Nordstrom will be very good to you so long as you pay your bill on time, and the show quite a bit of usage on the card. About every 3 to 4 months they would give me a credit limit increase usually off about five or $6000. However I would always call in and speak to somebody and request it.

You can qualify for credit limit increases every 4 to 6 months. I found that I had the most success when I called them, as they would usually give me about three to $6000 every time. It’s took me about 3 to 4 years to be able to upgrade to the visa signature.

I'm going to have to try this next time during business hours. That was my original intent to get the store card and hopefully get an upgrade later--but 6 mos. after I got the card I read they weren't doing them any more.

Awesome! you think i have any luck getting in with a Nordstrom VIsa my Score is 703 with experian no baddies..no lates on anything just my UTI is kind of high sitting at 74% .....

I’d try. My score is lower than yours and they did it for me. However, my utl is 31% and I have an excellent history with them. They seem to be a bank that cares more about your history with them.

I'm curious. How difficult is it to get a Nordstrom Visa? While I don't need a Nordstrom card, there is a part of me that wants one because when I was a lot younger (about 20 years ago), I bankrupted my Nordstrom store card. I guess ultimately I want to "redeem" myself with one. My scores in the signature are pretty accurate and I have no baddies, utilization under 10%, etc.

They are actually fairly easy and generous over time.
