Amex Starwood Preferred Guest - Annual Night

Hey guys, so I was looking into this card a lot and from what I hear from blogs and stuff, you don't get a free night on renewal but it says that you get a free night after your anniversary, so you do or you don't? Is it like the IHG, where you get a free every year?

Also, for me to justify the annual fee, I have to spend $2K for the year as the cents value at maybe 2c to 2.7c? Thanks!

Free night certificates for those having the card or applying after August 1st, 2018, are issued on your card anniversary. Marriott points can vary in value depending on how they're used. 2 cents would be very good value, 2.7 would be exceptional value, but not out of line with what I've received over the past year and a half (2.5 - 2.67).

Yeah, I'm thinking about applying for the card, not sure if I will hit the sign up bonus tho. But, every year the card pays more than what its worth, most def.

Do not apply if you think you cant hit the SUB. Amex only offer 1xSUB per lifetime. Just wait.

Thanks bro, only thing is I MS for the SUB lol... but nevertheless, there was a time where I did a comparison between SUB for IHG of how much to spend and buying points and it came out that buying points was better and cheaper but not sure about this one. I'ma still wait regardless until the program is stable, seems confusing for now.

My cardmember anniversary is Jan 31, and my AF is billed Feb 11.

I don't really use my SPG Amex anymore. Thinking about cancelling in early Feb to get the free night before the AF hits.

So my SPG business AF posted on 8/22, and I was only charged $65. However, I am not seeing a bonus night posted to my Marriott/SPG account.

The account is 3 years old, I don't remember the exact anninversary date, but I was certain in was in August.

I'm wondering why I only got billed for $65 and if I somehow did not make the cut-off for the annual night credit.

You could call Amex to find out what your actual anniversary date is. As AFs are usually charged on the final day of a billing cycle, it's quite possible that your account was opened in July. If it was in August, there's a chance it's just stuck in limbo due to the merger and will appear in your account soon. I have no idea on the $65.

I'd love to keep my $65 AF, but it's not worth keeping the account open if I have to wait a full year to get my annual award night certificate.

My "SPG Spend Points" for the month haven't posted yet either, so I'll report back when that happens.

Why not just go CSP/CSR as your travel card if that's the case?

So my August points finally posted to my SPG account but I don't see where I have a free award night. I did confirm my anniversary date to be August 11th.

Has anyone else seen their award night added to their profile?
