If I have a large balance on my $5000 NFCU CC...can I make multiple payments a month?

I want to put $500/mo on my NFCU CC and it’s easier (for me) to make four payments (every Friday) of $125 a month. Is it bad to make four payments a month? Per NFCU, my minimum payment is 120/mo...but I want to dump $500/mo to pay it off in less than a year.

Dont know about NFCU but I've made mutiple payments a month on all my cards without a problem before. Doesnt matter what the monthly fee is if your doing that. You'd meet that and then some doing this project. Good Luck!

Yes, NFCU allows multiple payments a month.

If the payment is made from your NFCU checking acct, you’ll get a pop-up that says, “you’ve already paid on this account, do you want to continue?” Just click “Yes.” If you want to avoid that pop up, just do an auto transfer from your NFCU checking account for every Friday for $125.

Paying once a week makes sense to me as it's a good fit for a lot of budgets. Also, paying sooner than later will reduce your interest charges by a little bit.

I would hardly call $5,000 a large balance.

It may seem like it is to you, but in the grand scheme of things, there's people out there with $150,000 in student loan debt for instance.

But to answer your question, yes. You can even make one payment a day if you wish.

Ive never seen that message and I pay multiple times a month. Is that on the web portal? Because it doesn't say anything in the app

Not just that. I barely have enough bills or wants to carry a $2-3000 balance so carrying 5k would be a lot to me.

Yes, it’s on the web. I like it because I’ve been known to click the wrong bill pay and pay twice when doing it on the app.

I have a higher income and 5k on a credit card would be a lot for me.

I think you have a good plan. I pay me credit cards every 2 weeks as that is how often I get paid. I pay balances to zero but your strategy seems like a good plan if you get paid weekly. Good luck.

I get an error message if I try to post a payment a second time per day. Maybe if the first payment paid off the balance? I usually wait a day or two between payements or try to look at my payment pending status. Definately could pay mulitple times per week/month. Good Luck.

Same day payments will not work with some lenders. they want the previous payment to clear first before taking another. Discover did it to me. Took 5 days.

I never recommend setting up auto payments - too many things can go wrong. All you have to do is just schedule yourself to make the transfer from your checking to your credit card every Friday. It is very, very easy to do.
