Citi closed all my credit cards :(((

Today I logged into my citi card accounts and saw all my accounts were closed checked my best buy and home depot cards, those are closed as well. Tried to contact them about reason and they said they periodically review accounts and close them based on credit bureau reports. Most likely opening too many new accounts is the cause I lost a good chunk of credit limits today with Citi and may not be able to get back with them for long time now. Too sad ((

Sorry to hear this OP. I have heard a while back that too many new accounts may spook Citi.

How many new cards did you get recently?

Congrats on the rebuild as well. Looks like you have gotten quite a few cards during that rebuild.

I probably opened more than 5 accounts but was using my citi cards and paying them in full last 5 months. But still was treated like this. I am very sad. Will not check any forums here for long time

This makes me worried. I also would like to know how many is too many. I’ve opened several accounts recently as well. This includes 2 Citi issued cards.

No balance. I pay all cards full. My overall balance in all three bureaus are 0%. I wanted to use Priority Pass using citi prestige card for my international trip next year February now i dont have the card. Already paid 450 dollars yearly fees to them, not sure if they will return that to me or not.

I am thinking that the OP had too much exposure for Citibanks comfort. It gives me pause thinking about CLIs and such.

Wow that's unfair they closed you and you don't even keep a balance and you don't have credit debt.... Most likely a algorithm that closed your accounts and the reps are just sticking by it.....

You paid $450 AF to Citi and they closed your accounts??? How Rude!!!

All my hard work with citi went into drain today. One of the card was my secured card with Citi from 2016 which i opened with 500 dollars deposit and then citi converted it to unsecured and gave me a CLI to 5000. My BestBuy and Homedepot accounts were from 2014 lost a lot of account history today. Too shocking for me. All my fault

How big we're the limits on the card combined? Maybe it's like the other poster said... Maybe when you reach high internal limits your more likely to get closed after credit seeking....

Yes they charged me that in July. Luckily i was able to use their Global Entry fee of 100 dollars and 250 dollars airline credit already but still i am $100 short of redeeming. Though i know it is all my fault of opening too many accounts. But this is how you treat of handling credit well? So sad.

I feel your pain as Citi closed my AA Executive World Elite MC with a 30k CL and it did major damage to my score. I sent letter to CEO, spoke to EO twice with two levels of mgmt. and they would not re-open. I was/am beyond PO’d! Said I’m free to re-apply! Still 🤦‍♀️

Not oo big. I saw bigger limits here

Citi Prestige : $5000

Citi AAdvantage : $1500

Best Buy: $10000

Home Depot : $6800

PS: Ask for the AF to be refunded and they will do tht. As a matter of fact mine was done proactively!
