What's your take on The Paypal Mastercard Credit Card??

Great Afternoon Fico Fam

What's your Take on the Paypal Mastercard?

I see that its 2% Cash back which is cool

The Bank is Synchrony, are they good to work with?

What's your experience if you actually have the Card?

How are they in terms of CLI?

is it easy to get approved?

my Fico 8 Scores are as follows:

Equifax: 706

Trans: 670

Experian: 650

Much easier to get then the Citi Double cash for sure but Sometimes they randomly throw toy limits of 300 dollars around but I've heard it's a fast grower....
With those scores I say you will be approved

They pulled TransUnion for me... Haven't received card yet but the synchrony site looks decent enough

No foreign transaction fees and also you can redeem the cash back starting at 1 dollar versus having to wait til 25 dollar accumulates for the double cash.... Only thing that lacks Is the product change options.... There pretty much isn't any....

Cool!! I have the Citi DC already. Got an pre Approval letter in the mail in March. Was instantly approved. The Paypal looks promising.

If you like redeeming small amounts and you travel outside the states I say it's worth it...

If not I think the DC will suffice

I've had the card since August of '17 with an initial limit of $700. I cannot recall my scores at the time but tend to remember that they were in the 650-675 range at the time. I used the card a decent amount, usually splitting up daily use between it and the Citi DC.

For me the real difference came when Sync was OK with approving CLI's while Citi essentially told me to pound sand despite my scores reaching and exceeding 700 and my overall reports imroving as well. When I asked for the CLI's I was conservative. The first took me to 2K if memory serves me right....then 5K and the last one I requested took me to 8K. Then in August of '18 they tacked on an auto CLI bringing it to 10K. Not too bad for a years worth of usage. For comparision's sake the DC which started at $700 received one CLI for a whopping $500 and after having it a full year I called and cancelled it.

Some people tend to bash Sync and point out that they are quick to close accounts and/or reduce limits but a lot of that can be attributed to the user. Not always mind you, but more often than not. Most lenders will do that, it's not exclusive to Syncrony.

Wow Thats an awesome CLI over a short period of time!! it seems that they are very Generous

The thing with Synchrony is that some people take their generosity with CLIs a bit far. Even the most generous and risk-tolerant of banks will start poking under the hood and kicking the tires when you have several tradelines all with CLs of many tens of thousands of dollars with them.

I have it and I like it.

Synchrony is okay, right in the middle, based on my experience (I have two Synchrony cards).

I did not get instant-approved, but it was just a verification of information. Approved same day though.

SL was $9000. It was about where my othere cards were.

CLI with Synchrony is good. You can actually do a trial-and-error SP instant-CLI through their online portal.

It is possible to add in Google Pay.

Other thoughts: No mobile app. You always have to go through the Paypal website. The card looks great, but not premium. I personally like it because it looks modern-ish. No contactless RFID. The front is clean, all info are in the back. Does not have embossed numbers.

+1 thus me stucky with $300 too much credit anyway but eventually once i pay off all debt im gonna pick like 5 cards and im done

I just checked the app on the Google play store and read some reviews, many of the reviews said they could not find their Amazon Store card or Paypal CC on the app, they used the words" Did not recognize the Credit Cards".

IIRC, the SYNCB app can only be used to link certain retail providers, but not CC accounts such as PayPal/eBay MC, Amazon, Walmart, Sam's Club, Lowe's, TJ Maxx, etc.

All account administration for the Paypal MC is done through Paypal. On a desktop, you have to go to Paypal, login, and click through to the CC page.

On your phone, you do everything through the Paypal app. The mobile UI is very crude, it shows current balance, available credit, payment due date, and last statement balance. There's a button to "make a payment" but all it does is show a popup that says you'll be taken the website to make the payment (and you have to log in again) but that they are working to add the feature to the app soon. Not a great experience.

But I do like the card though.

This is true. For me though, the only reason I would need to access my account on a daily basis is to look at my transactions.I wish they at least included this in the app. But I do not really have a problem using the web browser, I just like be able to sign in with my fingerprint. But yeah, this is the only minor annoyance with the card. Otherwise, I really like it.

Its my daily driver when in an offquarter for Disco (like next quarter when it will be "wholesale outlets"). Basically its my "shotgun" card, since I consider Disco my DD.

Also for some goddamned reason my lowest limit as of right now, but whatever. Sync is mega generous with CLI once you pass a few thresholds (6 months, 660+TU) etc.

I expect within a year this card will be my largest and most used, its just a baby right now and needs seasoning.
