I LOVE my Amazon Prime store card - 5% back on everything!

Amex Blue Card is GREAT - as is Discover it. Cash back on everything.

And, of course, there is Citi Double Cash Back - 2% back on all.

There are some really good ones out there!

I *finally* got a collection removed that had to do with a car insurance company not wanting to pay the ER bill after I was in a major accident. Not cool.

I'm about to pay a year's worth of auto insurance and I *think* I might barely have enough time to grab a new card before then in order to take advantage of a sign up bonus and meet the spending requirement. It's about $1500 that I'll be paying, plus my usual expenses.

My Experian fico is 790, AAoA is 3 yrs 1 month, utilization around 2%. No lates or derogatory marks, 1 inquiry on Equifax, 0 on Transunion.

From a quick look around it seems Capital One Savor would give me $500 cash back after spending $3000 within the first 3 months. I'm not too hot on the annual fee, would I be able to downgrade it to a non-annual fee card around the one year mark to avoid paying a fee? Or would I need to close it out?

I'm primarily interested in cash back for my rewards cards. Been eying the amazon card because we shop there a lot. Any other ones I should have my eye on? I don't tend to do app sprees but I want to make an informed decision. Thanks!

If you like the cashback route, I recommend most of the cards I use.

All have no FTF and no AF (except my Amex Delta**)

- PayPal Cashback MC is 2% everywhere (like Citi DC, minus lots of asterisks). No SUB.

- Uber Visa is 4% dining, 3% travel. Has 2 $600/yr phone insurance. $100 SUB/$500 spend.

- Costco Visa is 4% gas, 3% dining and travel, 2% costco. SUB is YMMV. Try to appy in store.

- Amazon Visa is 5% amazon purchases. SUB is also YMMV.

- Sam's Club MC is like Costco, but 5% gas.

Note that these cards have 2% categories as well. But since I have a 2% card, 2% categories are not important to me anymore. (Except Costco since they only accept Visa, and my 2% card is MC)

Another good one is the Wells Fargo Propel. 3% dining, gas, travel, streaming. Comes with $600-$1200 phone insurance as well. However, it covers more when it comes to travel (like tolls and parking). Their rewards system is also somewhat good, and you can combine promos to add to that base cashback. It's also metal if that appeals to you.

You can also do the 5% rotating category cards, if that is something you like.

**I keep the Amex Delta mostly for the annual companion certificate.
