Quicksilver One upgrade to World Elite?

i just received an email from cap1 that my quicksilver one was getting upgraded to a world elite mastercard. ive been with cap1 for ~15 months. started with $300 limit and currently only up to $2750 with a 8-10k monthly spend. cant seem to find anything on the cap1 site about this and was curious if theres any legitimate benefit? my primary concern is that i retain the cash back rewards. thanks.

Nothing is going to change except for the addition of some (unexciting) benefits from MasterCard. There's no negative to this.

i had issues years ago, and went without credit cards up until ~15months ago when i received the cap1 qs1 and a $2500 discover secured. pulling myself out the hole putting as much business expense as i can on the 2 cards, paying them off almost daily. fico8 is up from 550 to 670, but still not getting any love from the cc companies. i just hung up with cap1 and they wont upgrade qs1 to qs, and discover still hasnt converted to unsecured... really frustrating.

I feel ya on the Disco. They're an odd bird. Have you tried Amex prequal? You may be pleasantly surprised and a charge card may help alleviate a little pressure with the NPSL. As it stands the PRG is fixin to be a pretty solid keeper card in the next few days if all goes well with the refresh.

I second the AmEx. 15mo should be plenty of history for them and unless you've got major derogs I'd be surprised if they don't bite. If you are mostly putting business spend through your cards, might want to consider applying for an AmEx business card instead of a personal one.

Received something similar. They are "upgarding" me to visa signature from platinum. I would probably never use it, but I will for the contactless payment bonus.

2 chargeoff from early 2012, citi for 15k and amex for 30k. citi was paid in full and removed, but amex remains as only blemish on my report. amex unfortunately isnt an option.

MasterCard World Elite and Visa Signature will give you a warm fuzzy in the pit of your stomach, but the upgrade has no practical benefit.

QS1 won’t ever upgrade to QS - they won’t change a card with an AF to one without it. You’d have to app for the QS and it really isn’t much worth doing for a 3 HP burn. If you’re eligible to app for a second Discover, it might be worth it now with your scores where they are. You can hit the prequal page and see what they’d offer.

I just upgraded my quicksilver one (af) to a quicksilver (no af). They also gave me the option to change it to a venture or venture one card . Search capital one upgrade link on the forums for it. You won’t find it on capital ones portal

Edited to add: This is the same account I recently PC'ed to a Savor, that is now 'grandfathered' with no AF.

I recently closed my Cap1 QS1 card because I was told that it would "never ever" be PCed or upgraded to a QS card. Either it is just my situation or Cap1s inconsistency. Regardless, I will most likely "never ever" apply for a Cap1 again.

i clicked the upgrade link, and no love for my qs1. i have a cap1 platinum $500 that i intend to combine into my qs1 at 6mo after the cli though, and it was offered an upgrade to regular quicksilver. i have never used that card and its only 5 months old. next month im left with a world elite qs1 that im going to fight for any kind of credit line with and a regular qs with no elite status, and the ability to combine the two cards. it doesnt make sense to combine to the qs to the qs1, but at the same time would be losing WE status combining qs1 to the qs. what to do?

World Elite status is just that, a status. No real-world benefits unless you are a frequent traveler and are willing to pay for the benefits the WEMC offer.

False QS1 can upgrade to QS, I had the option and I went with VentureOne when I tried the upgrade link for cap1

@mikeym5541, if you're willing to ride it out for a while, keep using the QS1 like you have been, and call in to check for upgrade offers every month. I was able to PC two QS1s after 12 or 13 consecutive months of usage and payments.

I use my QS1 as my daily driver for everything right now and its 4 years old (Probably could of upgraded before but recently found these forums). Typical spend is 3-4k a month and usually gets PIF. My thing with capital one is there notification system/mobile app. I've had BOA cash rewards, Chase FreemUnlim, Discover IT, but none of those come close in the quality of the mobile application nor the push notifications.

I PC my QS1 6 months of having the card I got it in February of this year and on the 5th month they gave me an increase from 500 to 3500 and I do use it a lot to rack up points and pay my rent with it.
