Thank you. I just called them & they said the card is coming within 2 wks & the security dep check within 75 days. They made a mistake on the notice because its states within 75 days you'll automatically receive a Citi Diamond Preferred card. Yes it states that it will be the same # as well.

You'll get an upgrade soon sometimes in 6 months they send a notice. Mines took a long time because I was really new to credit they left me for another 18 months. It took me 2.5yrs to get out Citi secured.

Good luck

Hi all,
I've been trying since 2015 I have applied for cards but couldn't get anything in 2015. I decided to start with a secured CAP1 but closed it after a few months when Rep told me that don't upgrade to unsecured which was misinformation by that person. Closing that card took a dip I didn't know at the time closing cards can make it worse.

In May 2016 I applied for the Citi secured card which was approved for a $200 dep. They said 18 months to mature that came & went nothing in Nov 2017 I received a notice from Citi stating that they're giving me another 18 months on the secured card which will mature Dec 29th, 2018. I was so discouraged I realized patience is the key with anything credit. There's was 1 late payment that was reported in July 2017 but I didn't have a late payment with Citi I called & they said they never reported to EX. I went to work starting to pay half of the card instead of the Min. The first year I had some months of using up most of it but still paid more than the Min like 50 a month & not missing a payment. Yesterday I received a notice saying Congrats! we're upgrading you & will send you your Citi preferred card within 75 days. They didn't say how much I'm approved for. They're sending me a check for my $200 dep. In July they emailed me saying Congrats I can apply for the Citi preferred Thank You card. since I've been a good customer I did that same day & was denied. I thought they said I'm getting an unsecured card now I was so upset. I'm so happy to be out as I recently hit fair credit score. I'm still building. I have no loans yet only credit cards, I tried 1 small loan but was denied in a few months I will try again. I don't have many cards.

I got these in 2016-

Citi secured $200 May

Victoria S $500 Nov, I have 2 more payments & will cut up the card since this card doesn't do much for me & they're exp I'll pay it off.

Fingerhut $500 Sept, I did miss 2 or 3 payments it went into charge off in Jan 2018 was in CO for 1 day. I paid it off same day, but I closed this acct after 2 months of getting it in Sept 2016 I didn't want it anymore & was making the payments.

Chase card with Amazon logo June $1,500 but got closed by chase error in Jan 2017 on the reports says closed by grantor. I have $454 left & hoping to finish it by end of the year.

CAP1 Sept 2017 unsecured $300, March 2018 they added $200 more. Nothing else since then in the new year if they don't increase me by then I'll ask for one.

Will it actually take Citi to mail my card that long? Oh no annual fee on the new Citi will be same card #

You have a lot going on here. It appears you are trying to rebuild, but during the process it seems you have stumbled a few times. This is likely part of the reason why things are moving slower than maybe you hoped. It is also likely that the lenders noticed this.
Moving forward, I would try your best to not allow any more negatives/lates to occur as well as cleaning up anything else lingering that you can on your reports. I also would recommend not spending what you can't pay back within the same cycle. Any cards you have, you want to try and have a $0 balance reporting on all but one card. On the last card, let maybe under 10% report.

These are just a few quick things hopefully helping point you in the right direction. If your goal is to rebuild, it is much slower and tougher if there are more errors along the way. I recommend continuing to read up on these forums with the many great examples of approaches you can take and good advice on how to move forward with your rebuild. I am not sure why Citi said it would take 75 days, but you can always call to confirm.

Thanks for replying.

I'm not rebuilding I'm actually building the cards I mentioned are my first cards. I was given little credit because I was new to credit.
I'm actually doing much better, the only thing was fingerhut & that has been taken care of. Right now there's no negative on my report I have a low balance on my cards now. Citi said within 75 days I was saying the same thing why so long but I will definitely call them thanks.

Compare to some people I don't think its alot going on with mines, I think I don't I have enough & Short time with credit. I've been working hard to make sure it's good & have Autopay set up

Thanks again

I don't think it would take you 75 days to get your card. But I believe it will have the same number, think it may PC the diamond preferred. I have the citi secured on my 4th month so a long time to go until mine gets unsecured. I only have $200.00 CL and don't use it that much. Let me know what card they send. Congrats on having your card graduate.

It's not showing that the company that it was sent to I called them to pay it & they reported to the bureaus its paid so it's not showing up as red. I know it will be there a while since that was last year. it shows as current & paid under that company. Fingerhut shows closed. I have no negative this year. Thanks

Yeah thanks that was last year I read as time past the missed payments wouldn't be a big thing so much, as my credit is much better & there's no miss for over a year now. As for the loan it wasn't a big one & they said because of a document that did not meet their requirement. It doesn't seems like they ran my credit I will have to wait for the notice they sent. I'm not apply for any new cards soon, I did 1 this year haven't recently.

I noticed that with Citi ,while other companies mail within 7 days

I didn't get the citi upgrade card yet. I spoke to 2 Rep and they told me in 7-10 days. The last one I spoke with said if I don't get it by Friday call back. I did and the Rep told me they haven't mail the card yet because it's going from a secured to unsecured it takes a while. The whole process is within 75 days she said all the info is transferring from the secured card to the unsecured. I may get before January or that month. She said if I was getting a different card not transferring info I would of get it within 7-10 business days.

I did & it was a fingerhut company they said they didn't have my account, I called back fingerhut then had to call back the # they said no they don't have it. They said to call back in few days which I did & they had the account in their system it was there for a day. I paid it. It showed up on my report saying Jefferson Capital paid, fingerhut closed. Jefferson reported to the CB ended up on my report as credit I applied for & paid off
