AMEX Gold not posting 20% statement credit

I eat out a bunch and have been using the AMEX Gold since Oct 5 for dining. I used to get the credit after a day or so, but haven’t received a credit since November 2. I called AMEX and the guy made me read out every single charge I believed to qualify for the credit that I didn’t get credited for. He cut me off after ten line items and agreed I haven’t been getting the credit. He just said I would see the credit by my next statement.

Anyone else having this issue?

Are you eligible for the SUB? If not, that could be the reason. To my understanding, the 20% statement credit should post per transaction.

Same thing happened to me and turns out I wasn’t eligible for the SUB despite never even getting the pop up. They could have withheld the SUB from you for whatever reason.

I am eligible. I asked if I was getting the SUB and he told me 50k MR are pending.

I definetly have had some charges where I didn't get the 20% and then I had other transactions where I got a credit for like 100%. In the end I haven't been worrying about it because I have enough restaurant spend to hit the total cap. Sometimes I would get 20% credit at a restaurant on one occassion and then the following week I wouldn't get it at the same restaurant.

Figured it out after a live chat. Missed the part in the terms regarding the $100 cap.

I do have a case outstanding where they are looking into why I am not getting 4X MR on any restaurant using Square. They're still marked as restaurant category so the CSR seemed to think I should still get the 4X MR. We will see. If not, I could just use the Savor for those locations going forward.

Did you think you would get 20% back forever?

Bring an existing card member, I would be so mad if that was true lol.

And yeah I’ve had issues with square as well. I just use a different card at those places.

I got this mixed up with the “earn 20% extra points benefits when you have 20 or more separate purchases in a statement period.”
