Barclays product change?

I have a Barclaycard Rewards Mastercard. It was formerly the Sallie Mae card which became Commence which is now Barclaycard Rewards (which doesn't seem to be offered as a new product anymore). I'd like to change this to something else. Ideally the Uber card.

I think Uber is only offered as a Visa, which I'm sure complicates things. However, I'm pretty sure my Citi card used to be a Visa back when I first got it as a Student Forward and at some point it changed into a Mastercard, and it's still the same account on my credit report.

I've been with Barclays for around 4 years and have excellent credit.

I had no luck when calling customer service. Anyone had success with product changes at Barclays? To anything? Or to the Uber card specifically?

I don't think MC-to-Visa is a problem with Barclays, but I think there are rules that rarely allow any properietary-to-cobrand PCs.

I didn't even ask about any specific card. They just told me it was impossible for me to change to anything.

I really like my Rewards MC, I haven't used it for anything but a 2% rewards card in years - gas. groceries & utilities, but Barclays is very loose on the grocery coding, my local Walmart & Family Dollar code as 2% groceries.

But if you want Uber you need to apply for it, Barclays doesn't do product changes. I PC'd my NFL card to Cash Forward and CF to Uber. But the Barclays way to "PC" is to app & be approved for the new card you want then call & move the credit limit from the old card to the new one and then close the old card. Yes, a new HP & account, but then you do get the SUB for the new card, and the SUB for Uber is pretty easy - $100 for $500 spend within 90 days.

Interesting you say that Dave because I still have the NFL card from being my first credit card back in 2013. But I haven't really gotten much use of it for rewards or anything and was thinking about trying to change to something else. I'll keep this in mind as the Uber card sounds good for me, but we'll see.
