So Citi just closed all of my cards, Best Buy, Shell, Home Depot and ....

They maybe I’m sure closed my new AA card I was approved for last week.

All citi cards closed today. It’s off cause I just got an increase on my Best Buy and PIF on it a few weeks ago. Also never carried a balance on HD and Shell.

im confused and hurt because I was doing so good. That closure will take about 6k-7k from my UTL.

Is there anyway to fix? I really just want my Best Buy and AA card. I can careless about Shell and Home Depot. Will someone give me good news?

Unfortunately, I wish I could have better news for you, OP. A variety of lenders have clamped down on excessive credit-seeking behavior as one of the primary or key reasons for adverse action. Too risky.

It is unfortunate, but it happens. Citi is pretty strict when it comes to AA. Plus, any escalations to the EO will be fruitless.

Have you received the notices of your account closures?

I don’t know. I went to use my card from Best Buy and it was declined. I said I know I have like 3800 in available but it said I had zero. I called customer service and she said it just said “closed by the bank” so she tried to connect me but said they were closed and gave me a number to call tomorrow.

Then in I thought! By the bank. So I checked my other cards and seen all citi cards closed.

But if they look at my card usage they will see I pay it off frequently often in full or a small balance. No I received no notice. Was told it happened today. Was just approved for AA Thursday last week after it was pending forever.

I don't think I've ever heard of that happening with Citi. Curious to see the reason. Just adds a nother reason to not have Citi to my checklist

Didn't your card from Comenity (Sportsman's Guide) get closed by AA not long ago? While I understand that you were on a roll per one of your past threads, but that closure should have been a predictive sign of things to come.

Not trying to be or sound harsh but often times, these types of AA are preventable to an extent.

Unfortunately, no matter what, Citi will stand by their decision to leave the accounts closed.

According to your signature, you had 28 credit cards. I'm going to assume you are a younger person or at least your credit is young. You may want to reevaluate your strategy. For comparison, my oldest credit card account is 15 years old and I have 7 credit cards open/closed total... ever. Credit scores ~835.

That's actually not as relevant. They've SP'd your CRs and their algorithms flagged your overall profile as a risk.

Yeah. The AA card was approved after almost a month. It’s okay. Lesson learned. I’ll just chill. It is what it is. 7k just Gone tho. I hate to see what my score does. It just went up 10 pts today. Guess it will go down again.

If you play by the rules then there should be no worries, right? All lenders have some form of AA so you might as well include everyone, save for maybe those who haven't done so, yet. AmEx, Chase, Barclays, and the list goes on.

You were smashing that cli button for Citi Best Buy pretty hard, add that to the NFCU account that hadn't reported yet when Citi approved the AA and it can look like excessive credit seeking to them.

PLEASE do NOT apply for anything for a while.

Garden, let your accounts age and hope no other lender follows Citi & Comenity with AA.

Your NFCU accounts should be safe..

Sorry this happened to you, it's unpleasant.

You've recently requested multiple CLIs from Citi over a span of a few weeks, then you applied for additional credit.

That can trigger all kinds of alarms

It just sucks cause it’s like I was working my but off, finally seemed to pay off then boom! Hard work gone.

If you close alot of accounts yourself in a short period of time, it can look like other banks taking AA against you. Citi might have been spooked by this if their closures were too close together

Personally, I never close more then one account in any 6-8 month period
