I haven't had issues with Target's billing in the past, but this holiday season it's been a mess. I haven't been overcharged yet, in fact I've been undercharged a few times, but I'll second the suggestion to check your statements carefully.

I've had a few instances where one order had had three different totals attached to it: the original order email, the email with the total after it ships, and the actual amount I was charged, which you can find by logging into to your target (not red card) account, pulling up the order and opening the invoice. In many cases the second email total was higher then the first but the invoice was lower.

Because so many orders are being sent in multiple shipments it's even harder to reconcile, so do be vigilant.

So I was recently approved for the Target CC. Unfortunately my SL and temp limit is $300! I am sure will not change when I recieve my actual card in the mail. I wanted to purchase a Nintendo Switch for my daughter. I put it in the cart and got the 5% off, free shipping plus a $25.00 gift card for purchasing the console. My question is with taxes and everything it totals to $310.56 with tax included. If I were to go over the limit would it prompt me to pay the rest of the balance with an alternative payment? Would this look bad on my CR? I would be able to pay my card right back as I have the cash in hand but really want the discount with my Target CC.

Would this look bad on my CR?(only if you let the the entire balance report. At that point it would show a 100% maxxed out card, and FIco doesnt like any card reporting more than 30% of its limit, so you would see a score drop potentially). I would be able to pay my card right back as I have the cash in hand but really want the discount with my Target CC. (If you could pay the balance, or most of it (Target also likes a small balance reporting each month of use), before the statement cut, then its a win-win for everyone..you, fico scores, and Target).

They're unlikely to approve the purchase for any amount over the credit limit, especially on a just recently approved card. I don't shop Target.com, but maybe you can buy a $25 Target gift card with another credit card? If they're like Amazon you can add the gift card payment to the order and bring the total paid with the Target card to under $300, and still get the 5% discount & free shipping for the Target card payment.

Why bother with credit card? Just get their debit card, the same 5% cashback. Can use it online too. That's what i did, as they declined my credit card application. Cancel the credit card sometime down the line.

Btw, beware Target is infamous for overcharging. Just take a calculator and double check the bill. I discovered recently that they overcharged me on an online order.

With the debit card option, you lose the grace period (up to 58 days to pay it back) and what purchase protections are available with the card. I’ve had my card for 16 years; overcharging is not something I’ve encountered or previously heard of.

Sounds like another reason to get the Target Red Debit card instead of the Target Red CC (both get 5% off etc etc, main difference is that one is a debit card that links to your preexisting checking account and the other is a store credit card that, aside from the benefits it shares with the debit card, is wholly ho-hum).
