On CapOne, I have a 5yr old Quicksilver 4k that I'd like to combine into my 4 yr old Savor 10k (pc'd from an old QS1). The 5 yr old Quicksilver is my oldest card from when I rebuilt my credit, so I didn't know how bad that will hurt me. I have no derogs on my file anymore. How much harm would there be in closing my oldest open card by one year? (only thing older on my credit is my 11 yr old student loan that I have paid off.

On Citi, about 35 days ago I PC'd my Diamond Preferred to the Costco card (takes 45 days and I can back out by Jan 19. I was wondering if I should try to PC that to the new ThankYou card or the new Prestige when it comes out? The CL on that card is 8800. I ideally would love to travel with my spouse but the most we do is once a year at christmas if we are not moving for work, like we have had to do each of the past three years.

thanks for any help

Hi @Anonymous. Welcome to the forums!

With the cards being about a year apart, it's not going to be a huge difference. The QS will stay on your reports for up to 10 years, and at that point you'll only lose a year of total credit age. The choice gets harder when the car is significantly older. Congrats on the PC to Savor, by the way. I know a lot of people here have tried with no luck.

As for Citi, you can pretty much PC most cards at will with Citi. They're easily the best of the large banks when it comes to flexibility there. If you're looking for one of the Citi travel cards, I wouldn't PC. A new app usually comes with a huge signup bonus (if used right, we can be talking $500-1000 or more) which you would forfeit if you did a product change.
