best card(s) for going out to movies?

Hi folks -

I know 'bout the Savor One (and, for whatever reason, CO hates me, so ... no).

That aside, is there a preferred card for taking one's SO out to the movies that will get more than 2%?

You could try to purchase theatre gift cards from Amazon and get 5% using the Amazon visa/ store card.

The only other option I can think of would be the Marvel MC. It gives 3% on entertainment. Someone who has the card here can verify if that includes movies but it should. Otherwise, your best bet is a 2% card.

Keep in mind - how much are you spending on movies each month? If it's trivial, an extra 1% may not be worth another account.

Also Citi Premier gives you 2 Thankyou points, which is worth about 2.5 cents.

I believe movie theatres is a 5% cash back category on the US bank Cash+ card if you go to movies alot

I would view that as a feature as compared to the "random" categories of Freedom. At least with this you can determine if those categories are useful and plan ahead. Freedom (unlike Discover) doesn't tell you what is coming for more than the next quarter (and that only within two weeks or so)

Definitely think the 5% cash back (or statement credit) through the US Bank Cash+ will be your best bet if you're approved. I have the card, and definitely like the 5% categories (5% transportation is great for Uber or Lyft as well!) Max of $2,000 per quarter for the 2 5% categories you pick.

Thanks. Our movie outage isn't sufficient to make getting a new card worthwhile; I'd just like to know if I'm missing something obvious.

Sometimes the chase freedom has a category for movies. Another option is when there is a category for pharmacies or groccery stores to buy movie giftcards for the rest of the year.
