Using PayPal Debit Card Linked with Credit Card?

I'm not sure if I posted this on the right topic....

If I understand it correctly, you can get 3% on everything by linking PPBDC with PP MC. Would it work on different 2% cashback CC? Also if I use the PP Debit linked with my USAA Amex on gas station, would the linked card count the transaction as gas?

IIRC, PayPal only let's you fund the PayPal Business Debit with your bank, PP balance and/or PP branded MC's. You can't fund it by any other means/cards.

As mentioned before, credit cards are generally not allowed as back up funding sources for your PPBDC. The Paypal 2% CB card appears to be a unique exception in that respect. I couldn't get any of my other credit cards on my Paypal account to show up, only bank accounts and the Paypal MC.

That would make your second question moot as you couldn't link another card. However, I do believe that transaction metadata is passed onto the Paypal MC including merchant info albeit there's an additional notation on every transaction denoting it as "debit backup funding".

I'd just like to further affirm the answers already given. PPMC is the only 2% card with the unique ability to be a 3% card by linking to PPDBC. Here is a recent thread about the subject matter, for more information.

I was looking through the online dahboard for my Discover IT card the other day, and they've added a "Link With PayPal" option to their digital wallets. Not sure how or if that would work with the cards mentioned, but just thought I'd mention it.

All that does is automatically add your Discover card as a payment source and keep it updated. Opposed to you adding it yourself and having to update it if the card number or expiration changed.

You can pretty much link any cc or bank account to Paypal itself. So when you purchase something (online, ebay, brick n mortar vendors) that take Paypal as payment, your funding source will be used.

But in the case of the Paypal Business Debit card, your backup funding source can't be any of those connected credit cards, only the Paypal MC.

Also, keep in mind that you need to do at least $100 in spend each statement for the 3% CB, otherwise it's only 2% CB. I originally didn't think I could hit the $100 as a non-category spend, but between dog food, haircuts, mom&pop stores, etc, I easily surpass it every month.

It should? I have the Extras and not CB version, but when I logged into my account just now, it's showing my backup funding source options as all my bank accounts + my PPE.

Should also note that you can't use PPC as the source, even though it's technically a "MC" based off of your account number and what not. Just the PPE/PPCB when it comes to PP branded cards.
