This is a post meant for a year ago but i havent been on here in forever.. Every year when chase dings me that 450 in dec for this card it hurts however ill share a quick story why it doesnt anymore.. I live in Florida was supposed to fly back sept of 2017 but we got whacked with a hurricane.. Got stranded in seattle for a few days then dallas for one and finally got home.. All 3 nights i stayed at a hotel during this and my food was covered.. I put a claim in when i got home and had a nice 850$ check from them.. One word of advise if your meal is over 50$ you need an itemized receipt as they want to know exactly what u ate and drank other than that no questions on anything under 50$ and if you dont stay at the ritz hotel was no issues either. I did have to get the airline to put in writing they cancelled myflight etc for them but it was easy.. Love this card well worth the money in situations like this.

Great story! I just received and about to pay for the $450 AF for my new CSR (first and only AF card). It's going to hurt but your story is reassuring. Kudos to CSR!

They covered it because the card included travel protection? Or what exact feature covered this?

yes, travel protection.

and I think CSP also offer this, at least in OP's scenario, since you got delayed way more than 12 hours.

Yes you had to jump through a few hoops but nothing too crazy, card is well worth it especailly when that happens.. I also Had a claim for a rental car which i was rear ended in and it was totalled.. NEver ended up having for chase to get involved as the other party finally paid the bill but was good to know i had backup as well on that

ya it hurts but lets be serious its really only 150 that travel credit is nice.
