Is there a way to access your American Express cash advance limit without using an ATM?

Hola "Triple Lindy" seekers,

My one AMEX has a $36,000 CL and a $4,000 cash advance limit.

Is there any way to take the $4,000 cash out (without using an ATM) via requesting AMEX checks or another way to access the CASH as I can with my $70,000 limit BOA credit card and all my credit unions credit cards?

Have you looked into what the fees would be, whether ATM or check?

And the immediate APR rate?

How much do you owe on your PenFed Promise card? That has no Cash Advance fees.

Does taking your card inside the bank and requesting a cash advance that way work still? I honestly don't know if there are limits to it but that would be my best option thinking off the top of my head.

Can it be any bank/credit union you walk into or does it have to be a bank/credit union you already bank with?

What do you ask the bank/credit union to do with your credit card?

Do you say I need a $4,000 cash advance done on this credit card, please?

Any bank should work. The purpose of the cash advance feature is when you need emergency cash away from home / out of the country.

Yes, ask for a cash advance on the card.

(and enjoy the cash advance fees)

(and hope that they ask for clear identification who you are so you verify whether they verify who is using your card for a cash advance)

I honestly don't know what the limits are with regards to asking for a cash advance at a bank. Presumably you could ask for the whole CA limit allowed on your card all you need is your government issued ID like a DL that matches the name on the card, your credit card and asking them for a CA assuming they allow advances with the available networks (V/MC/AX/D). And this is for any bank you don't have to bank with them but it probably wouldn't hurt if you do have an existing relationship with them.

Unless your in dire straights or in a emergency while overseas.
I HIGHLY advise not to take $4000 out on a cash advance from Amex. They will surely take notice and if you don’t pay it down pretty quick I could see this ending up with AA. $4000 is a huge amount for a cash advance.

You will pay dearly in fees and interest (which starts immediately)

If you are trying to do a BT or something along those lines the forum can help you find better alternatives.
