Just asking for so I know down the road. Currently I need to garden for at least a year. The Amazon credit card by synchory (sp?) can it be used at whole foods for a 5% discount, or is that just the Amazon Visa? If it is just the Visa guess I will have to wait an extra year untill I get below 5/24. at least I get Disover it's 5% grocery and amazon catagories.

Thanks,

Andy

If you qualify for a business card through Amex, the Amazon business Amex has 5% on both and better protections (imo) than the Amazon Visa from chase. Also... Is the Amazon Visa subject to 5/24?

I vote for Amex amazon business card, not visa.

I personally love my amex prime card because of the Amex return protection and extended warranty. It's true most other premium ccs have "the same" protection... But if you've ever used them, they are... Not Amex.

The protections are underwritten by insurance companies. The insurance companies don't care about their public image. (all?) Amex insurance is underwritten by a division of Amex.

I'll give you an example, even though these are disputes and not claims, the claims process is just as nice ...

Amex dispute : My mom took a trip using my card. It was a small town a few hundred miles away in the same state... She booked a hotel over the phone, got there hated it. Booked another hotel over the phone hated it... Did it again... Still hated it, but then decided she wouldn't find a nicer one and settled on a crappy place. The first company tried to charge 3 nights for 2 rooms, one charged one night penalty for both rooms and the place she actually stayed was one night for two rooms. I disputed all of them. I was 100% refunded for both the hotels she didn't stay at, and 50%refunded for the hotel she DID stay at. I told them she stayed in a "$50 hotel room and paid $100 for it" service WAS rendered... But it was sub par. I won all of the disputes.

Mc dispute 1... Bought something stupid and expensive for an ex a few days before we broke up... A gown for an event. Store had no refunds policy. Disputed twice. Lost. Gave it to a friend to give to his gf.

Second Mc dispute... Bought a "solid gold" bracelet in Mexico on a trip... Stupidly didn't use my amex.... Knew at the time I should have used it. Used Mc anyway. It wasn't real. Overpaid by 5-10 times based on misrepresentation. Trip was in November... I'm on my 3rd dispute. Last Dispute claimed I "benefitted" by purchasing a $50 bracelet for $400. I have a new dispute open. Had to get a letter from a jewelry store here validating the fact its fake gold... I'm worried I'll eventually lose because I don't have an invoice saying it's solid gold. I only have the price disparity and my word against theirs... They only gave me a cc receipt. But I was late for my cruise ship and didn't want to be left in mexico so I ran out without arguing too much.

So... Yes. Other companies "offer the same thing" but... Hell no its not the same

Amex protection 2: 2x60 dollar vape box. Jumped off boat on sandbar, ruined both. Filled out form next day, credit was on my account by the time I left the vape store. (2 months after purchase, refund within an hour)

Amex protection 3:
Bought 700 dollar hearing aids for my dad. He broke one, filled out the form, printed pdf of the hearing aids in a set on my receipt, and a single one being exactly half. Even though purchase protection doesn't usually cover packaged items unless the whole thing is ruined... They gave me a 50% refund and I ordered him a replacement (2 months after purchase, refund within a day)

Also... I do believe those first 3 disputes are equivalent. Amex will issue purchase protection after 90/120 days regaurdless of return policy. Following just the dispute process though, both hotels fought to keep the charge. Disputes were after attempting to get charges reversed though hotel managers, but before trying extraordinary steps like executive office. Obviously, there's a no refunds policy at hotels unless there is a satisfaction guarantee (there was not). Which is a whole separate process.

Amex did follow up on the disputes, the initial dispute doesn't give you a chance to explain what happened. It's more like a checkbox "unsatisfied"... I did have to reply to the disputes, but they agreed with me. At no point did I have to pay for the charges.

Poor mom got to bed at midnight or later... Then left that godforsaken town called gainesville the next morning... 2 days early without doing anything but driving up, complaining, sleeping and back... (I told her all the hotels suck there, she didn't believe me)
