What are the requirements to apply for this card, if any, that differ from the regular amex plat?

No difference whatsoever from what I understand. Supposedly you need an Ameriprise account to qualify but my understanding is they don't even check that during the application process.

No actual requirements per se as far as being an Ameriprise client. Unlike Schwab or Morgan Stanley, for instance, who enforce elegibility.

Other than no SUB (unless one receives a targeted offer), the AF is waived the first year. All other benefits are the same as the standard Platinum AFAIK. I was approved for the Ameriprise Platinum card about a week ago.

Nope, @red259 reported in another thread that they took away the fee-free first year for the card and replaced it with an actual SUB. Just saw the other blogs report it as well.

When I applied, there was no SUB promotion and the AF was waived the 1st year. So, they must've just literally changed it. Color me surprised!

Yea the whole reason i started looking at this card was the new signup bonus. Im probably going to get rid of my amex business plat given the recent changes. I just need to do the math on 5/24 yo see if apping will set me back an unreasonable amount of time.

So I think I am going to pull the trigger on this card. Is there any reason for me not to get this card? The SUB looks decent and its not going to derail my future plans for getting cards. Just want to make sure I am not missing something.

Well, since the fee isn't waived anymore and you get a 60k SUB, I'd say it's worth checking the vanilla Platinum to see if you can nab the 100k bonus on that card. If so I'd say go for that instead of the Ameriprise version. Off hand I can't recall if the authorized user fee is still waived in year 1 for the Ameriprise card, but that would be the only really unique appeal of that card over the other Platinum cards.

Unfortunalty, I already had the regular plat card in the past and I don't care about AUs, but thank you for the points to consider. I'm going to have to purchase a bunch of plane tickets this month anyway so it seems like it would be a good time to pick up this card and I kinda doubt we will see this card go up to a 100kpts in the near future.

Since the Ameriprise version is currently offering the 60K SUB, see whether the standard Platinum can trigger the 75K SUB for you (incognito). You could be waiting months to even try getting the 100K SUB to trigger so I wouldn't put too much faith on that if you're looking to get any of the Platinum cards on the near horizon.

In the past, the highest SUB for Ameriprise Platinum has been around 25K (even with the AF waived). Not sure whether they will align that product so that it can have similar or competitive offers (such as the one above) in the future.

I pulled the trigger and was instant approved. Normally I do not accept the instant card number they are willing to provide but I did this time. So this info will all work fine for online purchases until I get the physical card? Never used it before. Also, can I add this card into my online account with this instant car number CID code they provided or do I need the physical card to do that?

IME, I typically wait for the approval confirmation email with the link since sometimes the "instant card" works and sometimes it doesn't when adding it online. You should be able to add it to your mobile wallet as well.

Hmm I'll consider calling in but I feel like I had this issue in the past with amex and they said I couldn't link the card to the account until I receieved the physical card, although that could have been a CSR who didn't know better.

The temporary number will work in Apple Pay as well.

Just add the card like normal and your good to go. You don’t need to change anything once the physical card arrives in the mail.
