CCCs that will extend 0% upon request?

I'm looking to put a $10k or so purchase or so on a CC this Spring (new roof for the house) and would like to know if there are any CCCs that are good about extending a 0% offer upon request? I have the cash to pay for it outright, but would rather put it on a CC at 0% for at least 6 months or 12 months ideally. I'm talking about requesting 0% from an existing CCC, not applying for a new card BTW. Are there CCCs that if you're a current customer are open to throwing you 0% for a while? Thanks for any feedback here, forum.

Discover has been known to offer 0% on purchases to existing cardholders.

as simplyNoir mentioned.

another possible option is a balance transfer. You would likely have to pay the BT fee unless it’s a new card.

Discover has offered me 12 months 0% interest every time I’ve asked them for an APR reduction on one of my IT cards...

Yeah the Disco 0% is offered every 18 months apparently (6 months between 12 month 0% offers).

Keep in mind that your roofer might want to add the credit card interchange fee to the cost.

Sounds like Discover may be the way to go, so maybe I'll reach out to them. I've got a > $40k limit on that card, so rolling with 20-something percent utilization for a while won't be terrible.

Discover does offer 0%, but depending on the sophistication of the roofer, is Discover accepted there?

If not, the Discover also has the no-fee 4.99% APR option to carry.

I don’t think many (any) other cards offer those 0% terms on purchases to existing customers.

The only lender I've heard of doing this on request is, as mentioned, Discover. Otherwise you'd be looking at a new app and/or BT.

I seem to recall Citibank offering me 0% on purchase for 12 months at one point. They usually offer BT offers but I usually PIF unless I have 0%APR and I recall taking advantage of this offer.

I've done this a few times with Discover card as well. They are the only one I know of that offers it.

True about Citi. On several cards I have gotten various promo purchase APR offers, usually in a bunch with one card getting 1.99% another at 5.99% for example. Whether they would extend similar on request, doesn’t hurt to ask.

I guess I'll ask both Citi (DC) and Discover and see what they both say. All things being equal, the extra 1% back on the DC would be nice. That's also a good point regarding whether or not the roofer will take Discover, where they'd no doubt take a MC.

Off topic here, but anyone have any recommendations on where to look for a roofer aside from just searching for people locally, Angie's List or whatever? I'm going to sell the house in 4-5 years (max) so I'm honestly ok with a middle of the road type job here; I'm not looking to cheap out or anything, but certainly not looking to spend top dollar since I won't be in the house for 30 years to enjoy it.

Sort of a tangent, but is your roof just worn out from age, or can you identify any storm or other weather related damage? We had a windstorm in our area a couple of years ago, soon after a roofing company was offering to inspect for storm damage and provide information to the insurance company to file a claim if they found any. Several of my neighbors got new roofs paid for by insurance.

kinda sounds like lawyers that goto hospitals and looks for injured patients being this roofing company. I work in the insurance industry and would venture to say 70% of the claims are fraudulent in nature and it warms my heart when we clearly see one and go after that person and sue them and win and then recommend criminal prosecution, it warms my heart. A bit of my own tangent. BTW not car insurance but medical insurance for hospitals/dr's. One fraudulent claim can cost us in excess of 1 million plus

Citi used to offer 0% but now offers 1.99% to 4.99%.

Discover used to give 0% every 12 months but now its more like 16 to 18 months if your lucky.

Amex BCE gives lower % usually when you ask.

Huntington The Voice seems to give my DW and I 0% a month or so after it expires.

TJMaxx gives my DW 0% usually for 3 to 6 months, once a year or so.

Blispay if they ever open lending again is 2% cash back and 0% for 6 months over $199

Im sure there are others, I can only speak for these cards.

I wasn't directly involved in any of these cases, but the insurance companies did send their own adjusters to inspect and determine if there was covered damage, so hopefully no fraud, but I can't say for sure.

Worn from age. When I moved in the house 15 years ago, the home inspector said the current roof appeared to be 25-30 years in age and "would need to be replaced in a few years..." Fast forward 15 years and I've got the same roof on there... lol. For the last few years I've been finding random shingles in my yard after heavy storms/wind and many of the shingles are just deteriorating to nothing, as evidenced by the shingle-sand I see in my gutters every time I clean them. This past fall was the first time I was up in my attic and actually saw water coming through, so it's definitely a necessity that I get this job done this spring.

Citi just sent me checks that can be written for up to credit limit ($10k) good for 18 month @ 0%. Pretty good deal! Should check with them..
