If I am in your position, I would keep the Delta. What good is an airline card if you do not directly redeem it for the main airline you travel to?

And as others have pointed out, Delta cards come with Delta perks, like free luggage, priority boarding, ability to access the lounge (albeit at a fee), and my recent favourite, Pay with Miles.

I have both the Delta Gold and Chase Sapphire Prefered card. I'm not sure if I want to keep both. I'm looking to cancell one as I don't like having two travel cards that both cost me 95 a year. I only really fly delta on my personal flights, which are 1 or 2 times a year. For work I usually buy whoever is cheapest, unless delta is very close to cheapest. I only check my golf clubs when flying once a year so Delta makes up for $50 of the flight. The chase 1.25 point value redemed through their web site is nice. I can usually find a cheap one way flight.

Is there any benifit to going from the delta gold to the platinum and cancelling the chase. Or going to the Sapphire reserve and cancelling the delta?

Amex Delta card’s with annual fees allow access or allow you to buy access to Delta Skyclub lounge if flying Delta.

As airport lounge access is generally tightening, that may or may not have value to you.

If you are certain to fly Delta other than first class once or more a year, Delta Gold is a great card.

If you will be be bringing player 2 on one of those Delta flights, Delta Platinum can have value.

Delta Gold to Platinum gets you the companion certificate in main cabin which when used pays for the AF in itself. CSP to CSR has a much higher AF but the $300 credit makes it easier to pay and the 1.5 cent value of the points when redeemed on the Chase portal gives a peace of mind when wanting to redeem for revenue flights. Just depends on your spending habits really. You can't use UR points for Delta flights but you mentioned using other partner airlines so that shouldn't be an issue. If you can reach the spending threshold where you break even on the AF for the CSR I'd think about it.

For me I'd stick with the CSP and cancel the Delta at the very least you'd get more versatility from that card even if the baggage fee somewhat offsets the AF.

if you don't flight much, and don't use delta all the time, keeping delta gold or upgrade to plat doesn't make sense. CSP is more versatile in this match.

now if you are debating between CSR and amex platinum, you will just have to do your own math and see which one comes up on top, and if any of them make any sense vs a 2% flat return card.

Unless group 1 boarding matters for the small number of DL flights you take, moving to Sapphire only would make sense to me.
