Am new here and compiling list for future reference (once done gardening) now that I have the basics for daily spend. Suggestions?

Usually if we ( my Fico) find a new or unusual/little known credit card, and that card works well or gives big limits, we will make it our flavor of the month and/or break down the apps system with the stampede. Just keep reading everyday, usually something pops up...usually

Do you want cash back? If so, in what categories?

Travel? What hotels/airlines/other? Economy, luxury, or in between?

Low APR? Some particular card feature?

Unless a card has some major geographic or other restriction that limits applications, good cards tend to become popular cards here quickly.

I would try local credit unions in your area as a starting point. You'd be surprised how well the credit/loan offerings can be compared to the big banks as far as rates and reward offerings. The downside of this is there isn't much to research the FIs in question sometimes which can hamper your decision making. There are going to be some hits and misses but generally still a good idea.

The green card in the image below qualifies as a little-known CC, but there are specific requirements for membership and they do require proof of eligibility.

The question is definitely way too broad lol. There are cards for everything these days.

No AF rewards, no/low AF travel. And thanks @ simplynoir will check local CU (only one in area... Yet). As far as geographically, I'm in PA. HTH

Doesn’t seem that special as far as the card itself, just rather unique membership criteria.

Membership

Taupa Lithuanian Federal Credit Union is a credit union open to persons of Lithuanian ancestry and members of their “immediate” family. “Immediate” family is defined as: Spouse, Parents, Siblings, Children, Grandparents, Stepparents, Stepchildren, Stepsiblings, and Adoptive Relationships.

Check the CUs in this list. They’re the largest ones in PA - usually the larger ones have more eligibility options than smaller ones.

CU travel cards don’t really seem to be all that common. Lots of general 1.5-3X points cards though. If you have military affiliation, NFCU Flagship is a 2% everything, 3% travel card with a $49 AF (waived the first year)

As for rewards cards, there are a few rotating category cards like Nusenda’s quarterly and Langley’s monthly cards. Both CUs can be joined by anyone (Nusenda requires you to join the La Montanita Food Coop, it’s not really advertised and costs $15, if you try to call them they’ll say you have to live or work in NM).

I went to Google to try to find Irish credit unions. I found a bunch, but oddly enough they're all in Ireland.

I did the same (I am 50% Irish/50% German) and the only one I turned up was Notre Dame which isn’t based on descent lol.

No problem!

I wish we had some better CUs in Colorado. So many of them offer ScoreCard rewards which is one of the worst rewards programs out there and none of them can beat the 8.24% rate of my NFCU Platinum card except the ones that are so behind on tech you can’t even fill out a membership application online (so I won’t bother).
