So I’ve been rebuilding my credit since last year, and have so far been doing a bang up job! I’ve managed to raise my scores from the 580’s to the 720’s in the past 7 or 8 months. So my question is when will my PayPal 2% MC finally give me a CLI?? I’ve gotten CLI’s on literally EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of my other cards, but this one is still sitting at a measly $300. I opened the card back in early September, so it’s been about 5 months. Should I try again when the card is 6 months old? Does anyone else have experience with this card? What’s weird is that I have 2 other Synchrony cards: Amazon store card and CareCredit, and they’ve both received sizeable increases. Why are they being so stingy with the MC? I use it quite a bit because of the 2% cash back, so utilizing it isn’t the issue here.

Most people with the PayPal card report CLIs between 5-8 months of usage.

The store cards carry less risk since they’re on a closed network which is why it’s easier to grow them.

What were the previous reasons cited for declining the CLI? Are you contacting the Credit Solutions team for the CLI requests or through the automated line, or...?

The PayPal 2% Cashback MasterCard has a SP CLI request procedure. Also after 3 statements they usually allow you to triple your limit on the request. Usually that card needs 6-12 months before the auto-CLI's become considered. I personally was suffering at 800 with other cards at 10k+ until I forced it up.

I was approved for $300 8 months ago. After my 3rd statement cut, i received a auto cli to $1050. In between that time i think i called CS twice but was denied. Made me believe i was at max exposure with Sync on my income. Then last week i called up again, 8 months in and got a 2100 increase. Requested 5k. Theres hope just takes time

I think after my third statement I got an auto cli of $1250, bringing me to $5250. I think after this month I’ll ask for an increase so my total balance can have three zeros at the end 😂

I have a similar experience my card opened in October And I haven't reeive a credit line increase yet. I think mine is because I've had several inquiries and new accounts in the past 12 months

I've been requesting a CLI through the PayPal website where it says "Request More." Should I try calling instead?

The reasons I get is because of too many inquiries in the past 12 months. A few have dropped off, but I guess not enough.

I've been requesting through the website. How did you go about getting your CLI's? I like having this card because of how easy it is to use the cash back, but I hate having only a $300 limit, especially when my other cards are in the thousands now.

I would recommend calling into Credit Solutions. They may be able to help you better then a computer making decisions.

Ok so I tried again today and was ACTUALLY APPROVED FOR A CLI!!! I only put $700 because I chickened out, but it was approved. Can I call Credit Solutions and ask for a little more like you can do with Discover?

A BIG FAT NOTHING is what they gave lol. Oh well... At least I got a baby increase for now. I'm sure it'll keep growing in the future.

I got an increase on my Amazon card of $400 because that’s all I asked for. I turned around and asked for another $400 and got denied. Letter says too many credit limit increase requests on this account. Going forward, I’m just going to ask big right off the bat. It seems asking multiple times in one go is dead now. Now I have no idea how long to wait to ask for my next Amazon increase. I will probably wait til May.

Most lenders do not take kindly to double dipping. Sometimes their system is configured wrong though so they let it slide. Eventually an update is rolled out that stops the credit flow for a bit.

For best results you want to aim for the moon but be happy you got to the ISS.

My first CLI request was denied. I opened my MC in Sept and asked in Jan. 2 weeks ago I decided to give it another shot and asked for double my limit and it was approved. I did put a little more spend on it and let a statement carry over a balance. My SL was $2500 and now it is $5k. It is my only Synch. card right now so I may try another CLI over the summer or see if I am offered an auto limit. I'm carrying over a small balance since the CLI this month and will PIF next month. We'll see what happens.
