I was pre approved as well with a fixed rate a few days ago. The rate could’ve been either 25% or 25.24. I can’t remember exactly but i was declined. They pulled Experian for me and my cs was 688. 43% UTI, 30 day late payment From July of 2017, and 7 inquiries. The only reason listed for my declined was “too many inquiries within the last 12 months.” In the past twelve months I’ve had 4 inquiries which was all for utilities 9 months ago. I tried to recon (number listed in backdoor sticky) but wasn’t able to get someone to approve it.

Discover IT pre approval??

I was pre approved for Discover IT and chrome with a fixed 25% interest which is what I'm concerned about. I want to make my hard pull count. I have a QS 5,000 limit, local Credit union 3,000 Delta Gold 1,000 and Citi diamond 1200. I'm getting close to 5/24 so this next hard pull needs to hopefully have a good sl. I'm just worried the high APR will mean a low sl. Or should I just stay in the capital one family with another CO card ?

With Disco, APR is frequently not indicative of SL

Anything to do with Disco SL and CLIs can be filed under "who knows"

If this card is a good match, go for it. Pre-approvals are solid.

Good luck.

Following.

I made a similar post about my brother getting two preapprovals for Discover with a 25% APR. He didn’t pull the trigger since his UTL is high. Good luck if you do decide to go for it.

Wow!!! This is great info. I don't think I'm going to pull the trigger then. This is the first I've heard of someone getting a pre approval and then denied.

@monijah
A preapproval is not a guaranteed approval on any card. YMMV. Approval depends on your credit profile. If you have low UT, decent scores, low inqs, no baddies, your chances are good of a preapproval turning into an approval.
