MACYs new card?

Not exactly sure where to post this, or if it has been discussed, i looked but didnt see anything.

SOOO, yesterday, i got a new card in the mail from Macys. same account number, but it was silver (platinum i guess) and it says i was upgraded to platinum. so its the same except its not red anymore? was this because of the rewards structure or something that i moved to a different tier? the letter is cryptic at best, they made it sound like I had moved the Earth or something LOL. anyone have this happen? only thing i can really see is that its not as 'purdy' as the red one LOL. thoughts? suggestions? hateful comments? SHOOT!! and GO!

You get the Macy's Platinum Amex if you spend $1200 or more at Macy's in a year. Adds a 5% reward on your Macy's purchases.

Great! ty for the info. yeah, spent way too much at Macys during the xmas holiday. LOL everyone got something from there almost. i decided to just knock all of the difficult people (everyone i know HEHE) out at the same shopping visit. SO there you have it, one trip was $800 bucks alone. boy, ive never done that in a retail store before, and hope i never do again. - Thanks again for the information ProudMoney

Well I did not know this? Hmmm my regular cards sits at 25k, would love the Amex version.

I think you just got a new card for the reward structure of the store. Mine was red then i got the Silver plat. The Amex card is a different beast.

Lol, Dont say that. I put very small usage , started at $300, and now have a $25k Macys card veing upgraded in May. Pay your bill on time, in full prefersbly when can so as not to pay high interest, and in tine you could receive an upgrade. Ive had my account about 3 years. At least its not a new account when upgraded unlike Sync

Citi [DNSB is a Citi business unit] will sometimes decide to upgrade a store card to the AMEX version, you'd get a notice in the mail that they are upgrading you but with the option to opt-out of the upgrade if you chose. If you're upgraded the history remains intact and there is no new account reflected on your credit reports.

$25K?! I didn’t even know that was possible at our income levels.

Well hopefully Sync likes to be generous too because that Marvel card is starting to look pretty appealing and I’m already over 50% income exposure with them.

Still though... $25K is madness! I doubt I could even get there with NFCU 😳

Lol, nope, when i buy its a few things of clothes. 50 here 50 there. Always pif . You can actually achieve alot with Sync but you need a strong TU and i highly recommend keeping rest of profile in good standing. Especially with todays Sync.

Roger on the Sync front. I’ll make my own thread about it when I’ve decided that’s the path I’m going to take so we can stop derailing this one.

If I shopped at Macy’s I would definitely consider going for their card though, excellent growth potential!

Yeah, its not bad for a store card. Plus i always receive my stuff fast if shipped online. Ive even had good experiences with their csrs . Im sure if you take advsntage of their offers and discounts, it could be a great card.
