I believe that not raising fees is part of their standard practice. I seem to recall others still paying $59, and I recall a report or two of people having old Ventures with no fee at all. This would be consistent with the fact that grandfathered Savor cards will be moving forward without the annual fee.

Awhile back, Cap1 raised their AF on the Venture card to $95,(for new accounts) and I was wondering if they would eventually increase it all accounts. They didnt last year, and AF just hit, and it stayed the same again this year as well. Im not sure how long it will last, or if they can raise it since Ive had the card long before they did raise it on new accounts.

AFAIK there are people who are paying no AF on Venture as they were grandfathered in when Cap One first started charging the AF. That’s good news for those of us who were grandfathered in at the $59. I hope it lasts.

That is good to know. I felt this would be the practice for this to stay "as is", as I haven't received any notification from them it was changing. Last year we were kinda all wondering if it would, so I wanted to say that it didn't

I'm not sure what to make of Venture these days as far as the AF.

I used to be firmly in the "Why pay an AF for 2%, especially 2% towards travel? Just get it waived, or cancel/downgrade." camp.

However, they have added:

- TSA/GE

- Hotels.com bonus

- Transfer partners (ratios and partners are another matter, but it's something)

- And, I think, combining points with Savor

The bonus is good, but it's not a long-term factor.

They certainly can raise it, i.e. there's nothing saying they aren't allowed to, since you've had the card over a year. That said, in practice, it seems most people stay grandfathered in with regard to Capital One fees.

I think they will always grandfather current customers in.

I pay $59 for Venture and $0 for Savor.

I doubt it is worth the backlash to try and raise the AF for old account holders.

It certainly can happen being the AF raise as other lenders have raised theirs see Amex for example as perks are added and probably will happen with chase as well w/regards to CSR since they are one of the lower AF high end travel cards. Nice to know cap1 is treating people good. Now only if they were easy to get, but they are very much anti churn card lender now days most likely due to their huge sign-up bonuses along with being an ABS lender and want people to spend on their cards vs. having tons of others

You could have a 4% restaurant/entertianment card and 2% on everything else.

I just recently downgraded mine to the QS though. If I was fully in on cash back, I likely would had kept the Venture. BBP is now my non category spend card which made it redundant.

I just downgraded my venture at 9 months. Granted, i used up the 500$ already but I’ve never heard of them doing clawbacks.
