FWIW I have never actually seen a waived first year for Delta Reserve. Too many perks to give that away for free, even if many of them do overlap for some of us due to other cards and/or status.

I got the delta reserve Amex card on 2/16 and I noticed I was just billed for the AF. Is this normal? Maybe I missed the fine print, and assumed it would be billed on my one year anniversary. Is this normal? This is my my first and only card with a AF. Thanks in advance.

The fee was billed correctly (unless you got a special offer saying otherwise).

Many (not all) cards with ~$100 AFs waive the AF for the first year to encourage customers to try the card.

Very few (if any?) cards with ~$500 AFs waive the first year's AF.

The advertising does not say “billed on your first statement “

The way it works is, cards that waive the first year fee say that.

Cards that do NOT waive the first year fee just tell you the fee.

Congrats on the new card. Enjoy the Delta Skyclub, free checked bags, and many other perks.

The Delta Reserve does not have the first AF waived. Like it was explained before, some cards with AF around $95-100 will waive AF.
I believe that it is not advertised that you will be paying the AF on your fist statement because, if it doesn't say "waived" the obvious thought is that it will be billed on your first statement. You can also find that info into card agreement.

Agreed. My Delta Gold has its first year AF waived, which was advertised that way. My Hilton Ascend card did not advertise a waived AF. I got approved for the card on 3/3, and Thursday 3/21 the fee showed up on the account.

The Delta Reserve isn't a first year AF waived card. I've personally never seen an offer for first year AF waived. Not sure what the appeal of the reserve is other than the first class companion certificate but unless you already plan on purchasing a first class ticket it seems like not the best card to get considering you only get it on your year anniversery meaning you already paid $450 x 2 for the companion ticket plus your future first class ticket. The platinum charge card still gives skyclub access and seems like an overall better option in my opinion.

Also Reserve cardholders get upgrade priority over those with the same Medallion status in the same fare class. And if one does not also have one of the lower-tier Delta cards, there’s the free bag for you and up to 8 companions (which stacks with ones included with Medallion status and what’s included with your fare, if any) and the ability to use Pay With Miles, which may not be the best value but does earn MQMs.

And remember that the annual fee is charged at the beginning of the card year, not the end. The fee that will be charged a year from now is for the second card year. Sometimes folk get confused because of the first year fee waiver on many of the $95 cards.
