2nd BBVA Credit Card?

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have 2 credit cards with BBVA Compass? I thought I saw someone show a screen shot of both of their c/cards with them. I recieved another mailed and thinking of getting a 2nd one since I am pretty happy with them.

Yes I have two cards with them. I have a pre-approved offer for a third through my BBVA web account.

Thank you.! I thought it was possible. Have you had any issues with them having 2? Are they both Clear Point C/Cards?

Ones a Clear points and the other a Amex. I have pre-approvals for either another Clear points or a that 1.5/ 2 percent Cash back card.No issues at all having multiple CCs with them.

I haven’t seen anyone actually with two ClearPoints cards yet. I actually want to get a second one myself.

Hi Saeran,

It looks like you probably have to pass the 1 Year mark before applying for 2nd card. It would not take the application stating new account .

Ah well, good info here, especially from @Gmood1 that they'll give you pre-approvals in your online account. It would be great to have a 2nd Clear Points and have 2 categories for 3% and 2 for 2%.

I got a pre-qual mailer for Clear Points and app'd & was approved in late March. And I just opened a checking account today, there's a branch close by and I saw on DoC they have a current promo for $250 bonus for new checking with $500+ direct deposit, Arizona in branch only. Very friendly staff and as a BBVA CC holder opening an account was fast & easy. I love my bank account bonuses, but I'll move a DD to them & stick with them, my local bank was a CU that wasn't doing much for me.

They’re incredibly flexible cards. If I had two ClearPoints cards, I could have 3% on two categories of my choice and still have each card have a 2% backup category which could make it easier to cut down on the cards I carry.

Also BBVA’s cards have no reward caps right now and they have very broad categories.

If I ever lose my PayPal card or get fed up with no alerts of any kind, I’ll get a BBVA checking and their 2% on everything card.

They also are easy to qualify for 13 month 0% intro cards for purchases you need to carry for awhile, something a lot of people value more than rewards.

Their Clear Points Visa lets you select one category for 3% cashback and another for 2%, all others 1%, and there 5-6 categories including groceries, gas, dining, travel, etc. If you two had 2 Clear Point cards you'd have two 3% categories & two 2% categories. Or their Rewards card is a 2% cashback on all purchases if you have a $500+ direct deposit into their bank account, if not it's a 1.5% card. Maybe not 'best in class' but pretty good. I'm happy with my Clear Points card as I finally have a 3% at Walmart card (my store codes as groceries), take that Amex BCE.

No, I heard that’s when pre-approvals show up if you have a checking with them too.

I wouldn’t ever trust anything a BBVA rep tells you. They may have great cards but customer service is another story. I had one rep tell me that you can ask for CLIs any time and it’s a SP which is actually 6 months and a HP and another rep told me that my card wouldn’t report to the credit bureaus until two statements had elapsed so I budgeted according to that info and they reported the card three weeks after my first statement which spiked me to 20% utilization and came with a score penalty.

I won’t deal with them unless I have to but the card is exclusively used for utilities and my Hulu $.99 recurring charge so it’s pretty automated.
