Discover won't extend 0% APR promotional longer while it already at 0% APR

I am buying a new air conditioner/heat pump for say 6k-7k the original plan was to apply for financing 0% APR for 24 months from the manufactuer of the unit(American Standard), but my HVAC installer is booked for a full month and one of the financing requirements is it has to be installed before the middle of May.

So instead I am going with the cheaper option (Amana) since my credit cards have 0% APR promotional balance only for a short duration. My Discover IT only has 3 months left and Discover IT Chrome 7 months left for the 0% promotion. I called Discover asking if they could extend the promotion or say combine a 0% APR 12 month promotion with the one I currently have, but was told since it already is at 0% that's not an option.

Is there any other way to ask Discover to extend my 0% APR promotion or should I look elsewhere at other cards? While I am pretty sure I can pay for the 6k-7k within 7 months before the current 0% promotion ends I rather have some wiggle room just in case.

You’ll have to get another card, Disco wants 6 months between 0% offers. Disco is actually unique in this regard since most issuers won’t give you another 0% on the same account at all unless it’s for a BT.

Correct, Discover wont give another 0% offer at least until the first one is done. I didnt have to wait 6 months for another offer. My 1st year csme up in FEB i called in trying to lower my APR and was offered 12 month 0% again . Go figure. With the amount you sre spending it probably is best just go for a SUB and 0% offer somewhere.

Check for Venture prequal?

If prequaled for Venture (not Venture One) you should get a good SL on QuickSilver.

Venture min SL is $5k.

My promotional 0% APR expired in November, I asked if there were any apr reductions available on my account in February and was given a choice between permanent APR reduction or another 0% for 12 months. Did not accept either, just wanted to know if that option was available.

In your case, a new card with promotional 0% apr and a decent sub would work better than Disco

Unfortunately youll need a new card...

How the 0% seems to work... (This is Miss Disco after all)... You need to be done your current offer... you cannot be on a promotion.... and as both @Anonymous and @AverageJoesCredit have said, you need a gap (I'm pretty sure i did *not* have a 6 month gap, similar to AJC) from the end of the offer before you can get a new one.. and its only valid (as of late) for New purchases... that said you MIGHT be eligible for a BT offer (which is unlikely to be 0%.... it will at least have a 3% or 4% fee OR be a higher APR) after your promo period but it would affect your current Discover balance.. But you also might be eligible for an APR reduction right after the promo period.. But not the 0% offer.... So keep that in mind.

~~Another option is possibly apping for a second disco... But theres too many ifs esp on starting CL on that for my liking.. IMHO~~

Just noticed you already had 2x Disco cards... missed it the first time around. Still wouldn't work.. if one of them was already off promo it might have if the CLI was there..

Seems Venture has an anuual fee and no 0% promotion? I did look at QuickSilver and it does have a 0% promotion for 15 months looks very promising plus I don't have any Capital One cards maybe i'll try and see what they give me for SL. Thanks.

Venture and Savor do NOT have 0%

QuickSilver and Savor One DO have 0%

But Venture is the only card with a minimum of $5k SL, so if you are prequaled for Venture, you are prequaled for QuickSilver and will probably get a nice SL.

I just Venture prequal as a benchmark.

As I side note, I have Venture, Savor, and QuickSilver and QS is the only one I get 0% offers on 99% of the time.

(0% for 12-18 months for 2-3% fee) You can write yourself a check, does not have to be a balance transfer.

AMEX pre-qual page will have some pretty decents SUBs with 0%, even on the no AF cards.

Yeah if it were me, I'd look at Amex. No guarantee about SL though, and if it will cover the $7 you want to charge. You already have a few $10K limit cards, so it may be possibe. Just be aware that putting a $6-7K balance on a $10K limit card will impact your utilization.

You could also consider the Platinum, then just BT it to Discover for their 0% promo.

As for inhouse financing, they probably will have another promo after May. I would consult American Standard about possiblies, and what they can do to work around the Contractor's schedule.
