Bookstore Rewards Cards

Hi all,

New to the forum and was just curious about something. I wanted a rewards card that would have good benefits for bookstore purchases, but am only aware of the two: Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I'm not the biggest fan of Amazon's CEO, so I try to stay away from them, and I'm not the biggest Barclay fan, so can't go with Barnes &Noble.

I know it's an odd question, but anyone have any suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous, and welcome to myFICO!

The only card that comes to mind for me is the Marvel Mastercard (3% back at bookstores). Hopefully one of our other members will have more suggestions.

If you are making a lot of in store purchases at B&N they offer a membership for $25 a year that basicly gets you 10% off your in store purchase and free shipping for online orders. You can of course use the rewards credit card of your choice for additional cash back or points.

I know you said you are not an amazon fan but either the store card or the chase amazon visa gets you 3% back or 5% if you are a prime member.

I haven’t tried it but assuming the MCCs are similar to Marvel, BBVA’s entertainment category should cover it. Unfortunately BBVA doesn’t have an MCC list that I can see to know for sure.

Most cards have eliminated bookstores in favor of other categories because of Amazon and the decline of bookstores in general.
