You are right. I use Experian's CR monitoring service and it does show $0 balances. I was just a little surprised that a card that reports $0 balance would be considered to be dormant. In hindsight, it does make sense. It's just never happened before that I've gotten such an alert.

So as part of my rotation of SD'ed cards, I let a small balance report on my Capital One QS statement this month. I usually charge a small monthly subscription on it but pay it off before the statement cuts to keep it active. Apparently Capital One doesn't report any zero balances to CRAs? Because as soon as this month's statement was cut with the balance I got an alert that a previously "dormant" account has now reported as active and it was the CapOne QS which it seems hasn't reported at all in the past 6 months. Is this how Capital One handles zero balances? If so, I may need to start letting statements cut with balances just to keep generating a steady payment history.

Cap One reports $0.00 balance if there has been activity on the card even if you paid prior to statement date.

In your case, there has been activity, so you're just seeing an alert letting you know "dormant" card reported a balance. Nothing more to it.

I dont know what you use to monitor your CR, but I bet if you look, you will see they reported $0.00 balance for each month you had activity, statement balance or not.

Another reason AZEO and micromanaging things isn't the best idea. Just let the balances report and autopay....

I’ve been having this issue also I used to carry a balance and when I finally actually paid off the balance, I was paying my cellphone bill the day after the statement closed. 2 cycles of reporting $61 as a balance, well last month i got a $0 balance and this month again...Payment history is more important and they have to report that correctly, so I guess I am ok with this $0 balance
