topic NFCU: PC or App and Combine Limits? in Credit Cards

I'd like to get the NFCU Platinum card next year to get the low APR. I'd also like to start getting limits above $25k. Am I better off applying for the Platinum and moving the limit from my More Rewards or simply PCing the More Rewards and requesting CLIs? The difference in account ages will be 1 yr, and a new card won't have a huge effect on AAoA.

What I have (current exposure is $40k):

NFCU More Rewards - $25k/11.90%

NFCU CLOC - $15k

What I want:

NFCU Platinum - above $25k/8.24%

NFCU CLOC - $15k

The NFCU Platinum will only go up to 25k Instant approval but you could move the CL from the NFCU More Rewards to the NFCU Platinum once it's approved.

NFCU More Rewards has a 50K Cap so I would apply for a 45-50k CLI so long your income and DTI support the increase. NFCU will ask for POI and counter or approve. Then I would apply for the NFCU Platinum and move some of the NFCU More Rewards CL over to the Platinum. BOOM you're done lol.

FYI:

NFCU Flagship is 80k Cap

All other NFCU CC's are 50K Cap

Max unsecured credit with NFCU is 75-80k depending on income and DTI

YMMV as always!

That works, and gets around the issue of APR. My main concern is that if I PC I won't get the low APR available on the Platinum, which is the whole point of having the Platinum.

My cashRewards at 11.9% turned into a More Rewards at 17.24%. I have seen a few people who PC’d to Plat and got the 8.24% APR though.

With what you already have with Navy, and im assuming you have a high income due to the 25k limit you already have, just apply for the Platinum. You'll most likely get the 25k and lowest apr, if not those can be achieved within months on the limit, after a year on the apr.

Less than 12 hours ago, I PC from the CashRewards to the Platinum and got the 8.24% APR. It is profile dependent and you have to qualify for it. But I did and even have a BK7 reporting, along with negatives that were included in the BK7.

Also, they can tell you immediately whether you qualify for the 8.24%.
