Chance of AA from chase

I’ve recently (within the last 2 weeks and it’s currently in my wallet) gotten a chase Sapphire preferred which wasn’t my only approval... I’ve had 2 (BB&T) soft pull new card approvals (1 before chase and 1 after) and 1 more approved card from USB. I don’t want to lose chase since it’s by far my biggest CL and my go to travel card and I do travel extensively. My question to all of you is what is the chances of chase frowning at me for 3 new accounts popping up along with or slightly after them.

If you have to ask this question then you already know you put yourself at risk.

Just lay low, don’t do anything to bring attention to yourself and hope for the best. Worry about it doesn’t do any good since what’s done is done.

I don't know the odds, but continued apps probably won't help. Consider finding some unrelated hobby for a bit if you truly feel addicted to credit.

FWIW, after I got CSR I stretched my next three apps out over the course of a year.

I need to take up basket weaving or something, credit has always fascinated me. I’ve even helped family and coworkers with theirs. I guess I was pretty lost too until I found the forums here years ago. I said I was going to garden indefinitely and that lasted about a week so back in the garden I go and pray chase doesn’t frown upon me sowing more seeds..

it's a common problem around here getting caught up in all the success you see around you. you're relegated to CLI's only for the next 12 months! Dig around here a bit more and tackle questions from others is a good distraction from that flashing neon apply button.

You may be correct, or even worse is getting caught up in your own success, to be fair I hadn’t hit a submit app button in years prior to last month. I’m apparently making up for lost time and need to quit that. We’ll see what happens when they do their new accounts review on me. I did see USB has done some soft pulls checking me out too.

I know the feeling. I realize my message could have sounded condescending and it wasn’t meant that way. I am bracing myself for all of my new accounts to hit and drop my scores myself. I’ve already had Experian go down from 713 to 694 just from inquiries, one new account, and my AoOA going from >10 years to <10 years the other day. I’m not as worried about it though because the accounts I added were Synchrony, Capital One, and AMEX.

Now I have to force myself to sit in the garden and stop applying too.

That looks more like stalking, 14 times between February and March??? Amex is a different animal entirely... I do miss them and the account history that went along with them. I thank my dear ex wife for that bridge burning!

It’s much harder than I thought to sit in the garden even though I have the cards I want. That soft pull approval with BB&T was too much to resist. I’m pretty sure I’ve tanked my AAoA and don’t want to think about it. Inquires aren’t terrible but definitely not the best now, 2 in the last year 7 in 2 years on EX, 1 in 2 years on EQ and 3 on TU - all recently. I’ve no need for anything else in the foreseeable future and need to keep telling myself that.

I would have still been in the garden but I wanted the PS4 Pro which prompted an app for B&H’s tax refund card and once I got that I was already out so I went for AMEX, Savor One, and Cash+. Struck out on the last but got the other three cards.

My AAoA is probably going under 2y on Experian. That 10 year account dropped me from 2y9m to 2y4m.

Oh well, I will just do my time in the garden. All of my reports are on ice which takes a bit of work to lift across the various sites so that’s usually a decent enough deterrent for me.

I always think it's best not to worry about it mostly because there's really nothing you can do except keep a low profile, stop apping, keep the accounts in good standing, etc. The damage from the new accounts is done and there's nothing you can do about it.

I would stop letting it bother you and just use the cards, and not make any new applcations for at least several months. That's all you can do. If something happens you can address it at that time; it's a waste of energy to worry about it beforehand. If you truly do feel addicted to credit maybe pursue other hobbies.

OP - I opened 6 new accounts, including a Chase card, in May, on top of 4 new accounts in the previous 6 months. It's been almost 6 weeks, and all cards work. From reading the stories here, it sounds like if Chase is going to close your accounts, it will happen in the first week or two after approval. Getting the card in the mail without notice of AA felt like a win. Hitting the month mark felt good. Seeing the new account hit my reports (after all the other new accounts) felt really strong. Seeing the SUB post felt great. I'm mostly over the fear.

I agree with everyone above. It wasn't wise, but it's done. Use the cards and don't apply for anything else for 12 months.

It's easy to get caught up in the approvals and the excitement for new cards here on MF, but as you come down from the high of your recent approvals (and the adrenaline from waiting to see if Chase responds), you'll move on to other things. I've spent the time analyzing spend, researching how to make the most of travel rewards, and planning my next apps, so that when the time comes, I don't make the same mistake.
