anyone here packing dual IHGs?

got me thinking as I booked a free night at the kimpton canary in santa barbara. the af for my card is $ 49. the daily resort fee for the hotel if it was a paid night is $39 and the rack rate is always north of $ 400. once kimpton entered the IHG orbit the entire picture changed for me to the point that I am actually entertaining picking up their new offering with the 80k sub.

I got my IHG on 7/08/17 so if i did make a move it would be soon so the 2 free nights would cycle at around the same time and i could use them together at a property. the obvious negatives of my little plan is that it would be my 9th chase card, I have 3 inks, 3 mains and 2 cos. the other issue is this brings me out of the garden as the IHG was my last consumer app, in a week I am 0/24.

I am hoping that somebody will foil my plan or talk me out of it so I will not think about moving on it. I just got a biz loc a few seconds ago and this has apparently disrupted the matrix and my itchy trigger finger has surfaced. but really, a new app gives me a quick 80k pts and the dual af's of $ 138 would easliy buy me $1k in room nights a year so its not the af that is at issue, and coming out of the garden is not a huge deal but the 9th chase card feels like I am really tempting the card gods. throughts? thx

Chase cardmembers who currently have or have had a Chase credit card in any Rewards Program associated with this offer, may not be eligible for a second Chase credit card in the same Rewards Program. 2 free nights might be a pretty small reward when weighed against the consequences of leaving the garden.

It all depends on why you're in the garden, and what your goal is.

For myself, I'm gardening because I have too many new accounts, and another new account could cause an AA with my existing cards, and also because I need to refi some stuff soon and need to qualify for the lowest possible rates when I do. So, for me, it's not even remotely worth risking all that for 2 free hotel nights. But that's just me - for you, leaving the garden might be totally inconsequential, in which case go for it.

When you game a little bit here and there you learn to dig into the T&C's to make sure you're going to get paid out on the bonuses. There's always that little bit of fine print that can trip you up where you can put the spend and get paid for it.

The IHG Premier has been out for long enough that plenty of people have gotten it and I've heard no one say they were denied the bonus.

I may add the Premier to my Select eventually, but for now I'm sitting on a lot of IHG points and want to use them up. I go through airline miles faster than I do hotel points.

true + the wording `may not be eligible' makes it seem like more of a warning than a rule. what do you think about a 9th chase card? pushing it? I am a good boy that like to stay in hotels and fly for free lol

If you have a use for it then go for it. You know what you're getting into. 9th card w/ Chase though... seems excessive and time to look into combining some limits and trimming back the hedges. I have 3 and that's beyond my normal 2 limit with a single lender philosophy.

The free night certs are capped at 40k/night hotels. Can’t use them at most, if any Kimptons as far as I know.

Now the 4th night free benefit and extra cert for sub 40k hotels is worth the extra AF.

all the ones in LA or SB work, that is all I checked. the Kimpton Canary Hotel works for sure as I have a confirmation. ditto with the La Peer or the Palomar

Then you have a single uncapped cert, which was grandfathered in by IHG. All future certs are capped at 40k/night hotels.

I do, well i did. 1st world problems, I will live - just dont mess with the InterContinental Budapest because that is my hit for next year!
